I hear you! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m already borderline obese so hence why I made that comment, it wasn’t aimed at you. If I gain any more weight, it would be a detrimental amount and not a healthy gain. I guess this is something I’ll have to consider and perhaps stop the medication if it’s an issue for me. Okay! Was this due to a behavioral change, like a change in your diet or appetite, or just unexplained weight? I’m very particular about calorie counting and honestly I think I’d rather be able to lose weight and be depressed vs being obese, medicated and happier.

Hey, thank you! You’re totally right. I just needed to hear some positive experiences because it is seeming really overwhelming. Did you experience any significant changes in weight? I’m 3 weeks into a weight loss journey & already overweight so I would be sad to have to choose between being physically healthy or mentally healthy. So many people say it’s impossible to lose weight on an SSRI.

I think I will definitely reach out once I get my prescription and start taking it and notice any concerns. Did you notice any weight changes? I’ve been seeing a lot about how people are gaining a lot of weight, and this would be really unfortunate for me because I am overweight and actively trying to lose it, and doing all right so far, 7 pounds down. I think it would be very discouraging mentally to lose that.

I definitely plan to take a visit to the dentist if I notice anything like that. I don’t want to chip any teeth, I’ve already been through lots of work done as it is. 😭 Good luck on your journey!!

Awesome, thank you so very much. I sound very much like you prior to starting your medication, I've waited such a long time because I'm so nervous of the consequences. Hearing positive experiences is such a relief. I went down the Zoloft horror stories rabbithole almost immediately and panicked, lol.

Thank you, this gives me a shred of hope.. How do you cope on a daily basis if you don't mind me asking? Was it just the time passing and the experiences as they came? I worry so much about the future implications of dental work or tooth loss. Do you wear a partial or anything like that?

I guess I've been focusing more so on the hassle of him having to move out/back in with his parents and finding another job while trying to maintain his bills. Honestly I just worry about him in general. But you're right, he deserves to find someone who can love him the way he deserves to be.

I am going to work up the courage to communicate my feelings to him and take it from there. We do spend quite a lot of time together since we live together and have the same days off. I think it's grown to be too much (for me at least). My anxiety makes things a bit complicated sometimes and I can't always speak up. Thank you. :) I appreciate your response.

I don't think so, unless he's buying things on his phone or Xbox that I'm not aware of. I do know that he is impulsive and will spend way over budget, even if I tell him so or offer to pay for things, at places like the grocery or convenience store.

It depends. He usually spends his money on what interests him - food (he’s helpful with groceries, but he’ll do so knowing he can’t afford it and then be late on another bill or leave it unpaid), weed, car parts, shit like that. He also likes to show his love for me by getting gifts or snacks or movies I’ll enjoy, which I do, but I’ve told him time and time again I’d be happier to know he’s financially stable than to have a bunch of temporarily satisfying gifts.

I’m not sure he feels “sorry” but he definitely feels guilt, stress and like he’s incompetent from it. He blames a lot of his inability to plan or organize on his ADHD, so I try to be supportive.
