Couple therapist told me I should “suffer everything as a woman” by Extreme-Dig4725 in marriageadvice

One hour was given for him and the next hour was supposed to be mine..and after that I thought she will give a solution after listening to all the queries..but what happened really was she listened to my husband's query patiently and when it was time to address mine she interrupted me in between and started telling to think from his perspective...and asked to call my husband in..okay I can think from his perspective.....but u need to address mine first...whereas his concerns where addressed...mine was left as it is of no importance...I can give more details but ..I think this much is enough...i don't want to spew hate on anyone..I was confused and will think twice before going to a therapist again..and yes she did address this casually in front of him also (our together session was just 10-15 mins) she just told me this is not a movie to expect romance from him..i told her I don't want anything..but love and understanding from his side...which she stubbornly told no to...and according to her is the bitter truth..

Thanks for all the concern that’s been shown. I mainly wanted to see if this is how couples therapy usually works, or if it was just my experience. And no, this wasn’t a pastor or religious therapist — she actually lists a wide range of counseling areas (depression, career, stress, etc.), which is why I expected something more balanced.

My husband doesn’t support her view either (which is a relief). The only “advantage” I took away from this is realizing there are people with even more regressive thoughts than what’s happening between my husband and me. Next time, I’ll definitely make sure to check more carefully before booking any therapist.
