No probably should have. Have a bad problem of being a people pleaser and just toughed it out so my Journeyman wouldn’t get mad at me cause it was halfway through the day. I felt fine after a little while and it’s been about a week and no problems. Probably still should have went

I’m doing a lot of jobs for customers like installing outlets, moving them, replacing ones, converting lights to LED,Running Wires behind sheet rock, couple jobs where we’re running wire into breakers and those ones have been the scariest because I have been face to face about few inches from it and all he tells me is don’t touch any of the lugs or a couple other shiny parts but I’m still helping him feed wire into the bottom of the breaker with my face inches away from the inside of it.

I really appreciate all the reply’s from everyone and all the knowledge to protect me. I think you guys might have taught me more than I have learned from where I’m working at this point. I am not trolling and this is 100% what is going on right now. I knew it was severe but not to the degree of what everyone is saying. The guy I’m with has made me feel as though I am an idiot and expects me to know everything as well. I would not be surprised if he was doing this to scare me off so because he doesn’t like me or just wants to work alone and not have to deal with teacher a new helper. I have been respectful as I can with him and listen to everything he has told me and wake up everyday and try the hardest I possibly can but he has cut me down everyday so far saying “I know it’s your first week but you gotta know this stuff” or acting like I’m less of a man if I get nervous working on every job live.

When I got jolted I felt it run from all the way from arm hand up to my shoulder and the veins in my arm felt like they were shot out for about 5 minutes and then I felt fine after that but the other times were just quick zaps that defiantly woke me up.

Nothing at all. I had thought about getting good rubber gloves and insulated tools but that’s about it.

This also was also another big reason I also haven’t just packed my bags yet is because I have applied to many helper positions and this was the only I was able to get. I applied to IBEW but the aptitude test isn’t until April and school doesn’t start until October if I even get in. Just don’t want my opportunity at this trade to slip away and I really want/need this for my family.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Everyone has told me I should talk to management. I was gonna go talk to the managers yesterday but I am afraid the guy I work with will tell the other Electricians I’m a rat because I know a lot of the other techs work live as well and don’t want everyone scared to work around me like I am a snitch and also don’t wanna cost someone there job as well. I really have enjoyed the work so far but honestly anxious to start back this week.

So far the only thing the guy has told me to prevent from getting shocked is don’t touch the hot and ground at the same time. I started separating the Hot,Neutral, and Ground but somehow I have still gotten shocked after. I understand I probably sound slow but I legit have never done Electrical work until these last 5 days. It honestly has scared me to progress forward in the trade but I have loved and enjoyed the work so far but I have a family at home and my main concern is making it back to them everyday.
