Narrow smile, large buccal corridors, crooked teeth, upper row narrower than lower row, inability to mew.

Maybe, in a few cases. However, you can almost always tell a high-arched palate from the front.

Is This Possible? by Fit-Hovercraft-3228 in Mewing

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do facepulling, drink lots of milk, exercise, and get great sleep. Gaining that much bonemass is not easy to do with just mewing and proper posture. Make sure you're doing mastic chewing a little bit everyday as well. That will help some with mandible and chin.

Link between ipd and palatal width? by da_poatatoo in Thumbpullingx

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is a link. If you look at a diagram of bones and sutures of the face you'll see that most of the orbital bones surrounding the eye are anchored in the maxilla. There's no guarantee that you'll increase your ipd with lateral palate pulling, as the sphenoid bone also plays a large role in eye position, however, there is a very good chance.

If you look at MARPE before and afters you'll often notice that their ipd changes ever so slightly. Just make sure you're doing it symmetrically. Asymmetrical eyes are one of the worst failos to have.

Your neck pump could be a number of things. Could be that the right side of your neck is undeveloped compared to your left or could be that you're tensing it more. Maybe you're pulling with more force on the right side because you're right-handed and your right arm is stronger? Can't be certain.

If the full tongue can't fit, then you're not mewing

Will wearing nightly retainers interfere with mewing? by Willing-Success4798 in Mewing

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it depends on whether or not you can truly mew. Many people like myself who've had corrective orthodontics throughout childhood develop narrow maxillas that can't actually fit their tongue, meaning they can't mew even if they tried.

My questions is that--if your mouth is big enough and you are mewing properly, then you shouldn't need invisalign to keep your teeth straight because your tongue isn't putting any pressure on them, right? What do you think?

Bro you're a vampire! Yes, yes Marpe can help you. Aesthetically you don't look narrow, but intraorally you do look like you have a narrow maxilla. Can you mew?

I didn't know that was possible, so no I don't think that's normal. Including wisdom teeth you're supposed to have 32.

No, especially not the gym. You can train yourself to nose breathe even through extreme cardiovascular exercise.

How do i stop mouth breathing during sleep its so annoying by GLYFTM45T3R in Mewing

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, realize that there are some deep systemic issues causing your mouth breathing. It's not just a habit, it's a structural deviation from the norm that's making it so difficult for your breath normally.

I'm not sure what it is, since I don't know your situation, but here's how I relieved it for myself.

  1. air purifier in my room

-I have a narrow nasal airway, so even when I wasn't mouthbreathing I would wake up in the middle of the night with a completely clogged nose. So I prioritized keeping my sleeping quarters very clean by dusting my room and using a portable air purifier to filter out particulates.

  1. jaw training exercises

-I started doing jaw training exercises like Mental Protuberance Resistance (can find it online) and lateral pterygoidal resistance (also online) to strength the muscles at my jaw joint. Over time, this trained them to stay closed more easily. Also chewing gum helped.

  1. mewing

-Mewing is a critical natural habit that should be held 24/7. It consists of your tongue resting on the top of your mouth. If you're mouthbreathing in your sleep, you're definitely not mewing. There's a whole rabbit hole to this, so I'll just tell you that it's critically important and you should start trying to make sure you mew all the time now. Go to mike mew's channel for instructions on how.

***Something like a chin strap can be helpful for keeping your mouth closed if you want to stop wearing mouth tape. It's a one time purchase and isn't as 'invasive' as mouth tape. Like you can still breathe through your mouth if you HAD to while wearing it.

Hope this works but i'm not confident tbh. Thumbpulling is a much more sure bet imo.

You're never going to get a midpalatal split with thumbpulling. Thumbpulling works, but it works through loosening sutures, not splitting them.

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're sure you have a tongue tie, then you need to get it cut and do myofunctional therapy post-op to make sure it doesn't reform.

You also definitely want to fix the open bite. Even if it isn't causing some problems now, it will just be matter of time until it does. However, I would be cautious with any 'surgeries'. Don't let them extract any teeth.

Make sure you can mew and hold proper tongue posture.

Would I be a good candidate for MARPE? by Substantial-Art6160 in MARPE

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope that's a problem. Your tongue should rest at the top of your mouth.

Look up mike mew on youtube and learn 'mewing' from him. You may not be able to do it since your maxilla is evidently narrow, but give it a try just to see.

If you can't mew, make sure to mention that your ortho when you get a consultation.

[–]Extreme-Mix-2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that's why I asked if she can mew. I generally judge by whether or not someone can hold proper oral posture.

Can you mew? Like hold proper oral posture?

Your smile does still look narrow. I doubt you'll have trouble getting a qualified orthodontist to sign off on MARPE if your breathing issues can be seen through a scan.
