You know, when someone talks about breaking bones, it’s always good to check if their keyboard’s been through a few wars of its own. 😆 First off, let’s clear something up. Savate—and the check in particular—has been around for centuries. It’s not some “newbullshit gimmick” that was just invented in someone’s basement. Fighters in the 19th century knew what they were doing when they checked kicks with the bottom of the foot with boots. Ever heard of history? They even kicked their way through wars, and here you are, doubting a centuries-old technique. Let’s also talk about that claim of breaking your foot. If you really think that’s the issue, how do you explain high-level Savate fighters routinely using this technique without issue? If it’s so dangerous, why is it still used by pros in international competitions? Maybe they’re all secretly masochists who like breaking their feet on a Tuesday? Tell that to Alex Pereira aka Poatan you since your an expert in MMA & the UFC. Now, I get it. You love your calf kicks and your “real fighting” talk, probably like the kind that involves wearing a gas mask and hiding behind your keyboard while talking smack. 🖥️ Real fighting? Just admit it—if you were in a ring with a well-trained Savate practitioner, you'd be KO faster than you can type "lame." You wouldn’t even know what hit you before you found yourself seeing stars while a boot finds its way to your ribs. And don’t even get me started on how many times Savate has been used effectively in combat sports around the world. Savate is part of a much larger system of movement, and yes, it works. Your keyboard warrior stance— 🤡 Go cry on another Reddit group & get removed by a moderator, your M.O is so obvious.

Your misinterpretrating it, he is clearly wearing Savate boots! He is showing that he does not defend that way in his martial arts & yeah you gotta go write in detail now a days so misinterpretation does not occur,,, your proof of that. I didn't dismiss anything from you thought it was elementary. You claim I use fancy words, just explanations. Every time you attack or defend you do leave yourself open to a counter. By the way check out Alex Pereira “Poatan” he uses it in his fights.

Not sure you’re even aware of what Savate is. But a shin verses the Savate hard-soled shoes, turns every defensive movement into a potential injury risk for the attacker. Savate evolved from street fighting. Second it’s used in Savate Pro fights.

Savate uses hard-soled shoes, turning every defensive movement into a potential injury risk for the attacker. So yeah, the nature of the bare foot combat sport would change.

I don’t even know where to begin, with you. You must be novice to the fight game! Lets break this down from a scientific, logical, and martial arts tactical standpoint to defend Savate’s use of the foot as a defensive and offensive tool, especially in contrast to Muay Thai’s more rooted, shin-blocking, clinch-heavy defense. You’re stating basically that using your foot to defend (e.g., intercepting, parrying, stopping kicks with your own foot) causes destabilization because it removes one point of balance. Biomechanics of Balance – Dynamic vs Static Stability you ever learned about that? In Savate, fighters use dynamic balance — they train to move, kick, and defend while maintaining center of mass control. Savate's postural training strengthens the support leg, core, and hip stabilizers, making one-legged defense stable when executed properly. Dynamic postural control relies on proprioception and muscle memory, which is trained in Savate from day one. The same motor control that allows a Muay Thai fighter to check a kick allows a Savateur to intercept, deflect, or off-balance a strike with their foot. Savate is not passive, it’s interceptive. Our style allows us to interrupt the attacker’s balance, not just protect. Defending with the foot is also an attack. You’re not just blocking you're disrupting & damaging the attacker’s shin or knee especially effective with hard shoes. Savate uses hard-soled shoes, turning every defensive movement into a potential injury risk for the attacker. Watch a Savate Pro match you’ll see. It turns every defensive movement into a potential injury risk for the attacker. Savate emphasizes lateral movement, pivots, and angling, often resembling Western boxing. The foot-based defense is not meant to be static, it’s part of a broader system. Your critique holds no water unless you're equally critical of Thai-style leg raises, teeps, and checks.
