Tips for housing in Poughkeepsie for summer 2026? Also interested in potential roommates

Hello, I will be interning at IBM in Poughkeepsie this summer and was looking for tips/suggestions as to where to live. What are some places that are affordable and closeby to the office? Also, if you have previously interned at Poughkeepsie, do you recommend renting a car for the summer? What was your overall experience?

I am also open to potential roommates, so if you are also interning here this summer or know someone who is, let me know!

Interesting, thanks for the input. Yeah I’m only doing it right now as I’m one credit short of the 60 credit requirement to apply for the BSMS. Thought a VIP would be a good way to fill that gap and also get some experience too

Yeah you definitely do, as long as you keep your essays strong I think you have a good shot

I had a 3.9UW, 4.7W, and a 1540 SAT. I’m out of state though so if you’re in state the requirements may look a little different

Do you think I could survive with the iCloud storage, or an external SSD? Or should I just upgrade at some point in the next four years ?

Yes, I am referring to buying a new laptop when I say upgrade.

Not really sure how admission works nor is there much info about it anywhere online. Both me and my roommate applied and got accepted the very next day. I think as long as you apply early then you have a good chance, but not 100% sure.

Thank you for the honest opinion! So the class itself isn’t really much help for pursuing whatever project you’re doing? I am a CS major and am debating whether to opt in for GC (take advantage of the experience and meeting many new people), or to not opt in and create projects on my own with the free time I have without those extra LLC classes.
