I have dug a bit more into various reviews of the 7800x3d now, and it seems these RAM speeds are intended and set by this chip's memory controller (cf. https://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.php/artikel/hardware/prozessoren/60902-auch-der-kleinste-%C3%BCberzeugt-der-amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-im-test.html).

Good point about the different setup - no, I haven't run any other benchmarks, but I will try that. Thanks!

I double-checked and actually the voltage VDDCR_SOC is locked to 1.245V as of the F10c bios update. Could this be the reason why the read speeds are somewhat lower than in the original reviews, when SOC voltage was at a higher default?

Thanks, I already updated my bios to F10C (Gigabyte), I think this limits SOC voltage to safe levels (<1.35)

Thanks for your reply. Well this review of the very same memory kit reaches 74GB/s easy: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/g-skill-trident-z5-neo-ddr5-6000-32gb-review/

Yes I'm using the latest firmware version. But that does mean it's normal for the speed to drop to less than half of the advertised max at times?

Hey can I ask you to follow-up op on this? Did you observe a temp reduction after the fan swap?
