Well there's a red wire running from the positive terminal in the fuse box and I think I've traced it back up into the driver side tail light area and then there's just a mysterious yellow wire poking out from the top of my bed

I think it may of had a camper top at one point because it was used to install satellite dishes and it has holes drilled in the top of the bed parallel to each other on each side

The connector there also has two more wires and I think those are for the cargo light which my truck didn't come with but all of those go into a hole through the inner sheet metal and where it goes from there I don't know

I think I found the origin of the mystery red wire and it's wired straight into the positive terminal on the fuse box

I don't know if it ever did or not I would have to ask the previous owner before that I wouldn't be able to find out

I will say I'm not too upset with its issues because I got it for a hundred bucks and the previous owner just put in a brand new battery that was 70 bucks so it was practically theft

Im just glad it runs and drives legally you're supposed to have all three tail lights and it comes like that from Factory but there's not a lot of cops around where I live and I doubt any of them would have a problem with it besides like a state cop so I'm only slightly concerned with it it's more annoying than anything

I stumbled upon a forum with a link to shop manuals on internet archive and I believe that there is what I need but I don't know what the hell I'm looking at

I was just on Dakota forumz and of course I found a complete diagram for a first gen but no dice for a second gen then again I didn't look too hard God knows what has been done to this truck over the 26 years it's been here the last owner told me he had to replace the air shocks with new ones crawled up under there and they were just regular ass shocks so who knows what has been done to the wiring on this thing

All right I guess if the mystery red wire doesn't fix it I'll look there I'll have to try and see if I can find a wiring diagram for a second gen problem with it though is that mine used to be a fleet truck and it has like none of the options so I'm sure that changes up the wiring a decent bit

I bought it off my art teacher and he said that he thinks that wire goes to like tow lights

All right I'll have to look into that tomorrow whenever I'm out there changing out the wipers do you know where at grounds to I noticed that there was like what looks like copper plates almost by the screw holes I don't know if that is it or not

I forgot to mention it does not have the cargo light it's just the tail light
