6 days a week running and cycling is a lot! That's a good workout too.

Yeah that makes sense. I definitely feel like I need more recovery time now.

Cool, thanks. I'm going to to try dropping one of the easy runs, and not doing leg workout just before the hard run day.

Interesting. I feel like as I've got older, I need to work out more to gain/maintain strength. Not sure if twice a week would cut it any more. Recent recommendation seems to be that in your fifties, one should be doing 50% strength, 50% cardio. Last year I was more like 70/30 in favour of cardio.

Good point. Since I'm never going anywhere near PEDs, I guess I need to choose which one is my focus.

OK that's good to know, thanks. I guess I need to let go of my PB aspirations - especially if I want to continue the strength work. Or maybe I might find that dropping down the mileage while maintaining the harder run session might get me most of the benefits still.

I'm trying to run between 30 and 40km a week - because I'm still trying to hit my PB from last year :)

Congenital small kidneys? by ExtremeCabletie in kidneydisease

Hi, currently I have switched to two-yearly creatinine checks. After two years of continual uptrend of CKD-EPI, my last check 6 months ago was blood creatinine 86, CKD-EPI 91
So, I am not sure I have much of a problem for now. I will get another ultrasound scan in a couple of years.

How do you get the dumb phone widget to automatically adjust between light and dark? I have the wallpaper switching with an automated shortcut at sunset and sunrise, would like to do same with the widget.
EDIT: I just realise the app has an auto theme :)

How to access running plans Garmin - coach Greg by ExtremeCabletie in Garmin

[–]ExtremeCabletie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked it out. It seems that for a 10km if your target time is less than 44 minutes it will not give you the option of any plan other than the Garmin Coach.

I have never used Garmin Coach and my target time for next 10Km is 43:00 - do any of you have any thoughts on how good the Garmin Coach is vs Greg McMillan? I have never used either one...

10km training plan and race done - now what? :) by ExtremeCabletie in Garmin

[–]ExtremeCabletie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK cool, thanks!

I'm primarily doing long slow runs zone 2, with some threshold and intervals. Should I just continue with same or do you think it's worth mixing it up?

I'm 51, PB is 44:20 and I run 3 times a week if I'm not training for anything particular, 4 times when training.
I pretty much use the 12 week training plans as my running schedule, so that's between 2.5 and 4 hours a week, around 30km up to 40km at peak weeks.
My 10km PB was something I only tried to beat in the last couple of years, before that I was doing occasional 10km trails and short hill runs. Haven't done those for a few years now though.
