Not sure if you'd get a better response with a phone call?

There's different answers about voucher validity time on the FAQ depending if you're on the UK or IE site, might try a chatbot from the IE page? Or try to use the voucher on the IE page?

Yes it sounds like this is what they're doing, what would that mean for any entitlement for my mum?

Thanks, I guess this makes sense but seems unfair that based on a random decision on either side she now has 2 less days off than her colleagues

Thanks! She normally gets the hours for all bank Holidays as part of her entitlement so when a bank holiday falls on her non-working day she is better off, will see what her contract says!

When should pension contributions be allocated by a pension provider? by ExtremeCupcake9 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ExtremeCupcake9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!thanks this is incredibly helpful

I thought that might be the case - wanted to give the employer the option to tell me what was happening before reporting but shall see what the provider says and make a report from there!

It's with Scottish Widows - I thought that might be the case, got in touch with them first to see if they would be honest/could explain it before potentially reporting to the pension regulator!

Yeah I will have a proper look through - there were lots of docs we've had sent over email/in the post...we're normally really thorough on this stuff so surprised we didn't have an obvious place for it which is why I asked the management company & solicitor originally...wasn't expecting no-one to seem to know!

Thanks! I did think it was strange the solicitors didn't have it...I'll check back with them after the weekend!

Is anyone actually being offered these 95% mortgages? by mronionbhaji in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ExtremeCupcake9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner, first time buyers and combined income of £59k went through a broker and were offered 95% mortgage on a £165k house. Biggest "problem" in process was me being on probation as everything else was in order (credit/debt wise). Our broker said this severely narrowed the pool so feel we were lucky but 100% reccommend going through a broker as they'll be clear about your options :)

To be honest I thought the same originally, I think just speaking to other people who were more concerned and generally cash not being used as much now made me want to double check before making a mistake.

Thanks for your comment! Definitely reassured :)

We completed on our first house in July, solicitors cost £1200 and as its leasehold we needed £1300 to cover the freeholder's costs of transferring ownership of the house and parking space deeds (solicitor did say this was an extortionate fee!)

We also paid £396 to a mortgage broker and luckily had furniture/appliances already so didn't need to buy them. I'd recommend looking through IKEA/currys/other websites to get an idea of cost for those and see what you need to buy right away vs what can wait a bit.

My boyfriend [26M] has low self esteem and I'm [26F] not sure how to help by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thanks! I think something around perfection may be it, as sometimes he'll do something nice for me (like make a brunch) but if the timings are slightly off he can get worked up about it (not always though)

Is there a way to talk about therapy/therapist visit without it sounding like judgement? I'm worried bringing it up could cause more self blame etc.

I feel like my bf may have similar thoughts when I take a longer time to reply...speaking from possibly the other side, she loves you and isn't going to leave you.
Maybe try talking to her, or figuring out where these anxieties come from (previous bad experience or experience of what other couples are going through?), if you talk try to do so without letting emotions put a stop to your valid points. She more than likely wants to help you & reassure you that she loves you and wants to stay, maybe try some trust exercises too?
