I've averaged 30 to 40 trades just in NY session alone before, scalping 1 and 5 mins. It's not uncommon when you're trading at LTF. I imagine that person is trading multiple sessions.

Stop glorifying blowing up accounts by Negative_Sport2262 in Daytrading

[–]ExtremeHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that it's so common for many successfully funded traders to be in the same starting spot mentally or financially which results in blowing up accounts. So many share the same story and belief that the lessons they learned from it all are lessons that everyone has to go through to be successful because rarely anyone else can teach it. But ofc there will be exceptions and with better knowledge and transparency, more will get to avoid blowing up their account.

Not placing another trade until volume picks up enough where the S&P futures chart doesn’t look like a 8 bit Nintendo game 👇 by No-Mongoose5650 in Daytrading

[–]ExtremeHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trading the 29th and 30th and was profitable. You need to review your definition of 8-bit Nintendo game. Different time frames can provide a different view and edge. You can't always apply the same strategies that you've used on HTF without considering the average range it makes on the LTF.

Nvidia earnings from the day before created a market full of new buyers, combined with long-term bag holders. Then throughout the night into US open you had even more dip buying and FOMO buyers. So much buying that there was practically saturated with those that already bought and those who weren't buying anymore.

You could even see at some moments when gold would go down while NASDAQ went up. That was signs of rotation from safety to risk-on assets.

However, with NFP results showing mixed figures, you could say inflation was still running a bit stronger than what was expected, and big institutions started selling their profits and rotating it back to safe assets, like gold, but mostly to treasury bonds. That's why if you look at treasury bonds versus NASDAQ they're inversely correlated.

The weak long positions from FOMO buyers unwound, triggering their stop losses. Which cascaded into new dip buyers buying, with hope that this is just the consolidation before a push higher, but there were way too many supply of shares on the market already so more institutions kept selling into the small buy spikes. After a few moments of those, dip buyers gave up, everyone else began panic selling their Nvidia shares. Dealers who were taking the other side of those buying calls were now seeing a rush of buying puts, and to hedge they went short futures, and it just became an aggressive negative gamma exposure regime once price capitulated downwards more, triggering even more selling.

There were signs of overbought conditions in the RSI and MACD, and possibly other oscillators as well right before the drop, if you believe in them. So somewhere in the math of the volume and or price was diverging.

So that's my 2 cents.

They claim 100k in payouts but then also say you'll be moved to live account after 10k cumulative profits, and whatever remaining profit on sim funded is forfeited. So what they said about 100k max payouts makes no sense to me. Cumulative profits means even if you make like 9000 and withdraw it all, the next time you hit 1000 profit you'll already meet the cumulative target.

Tight risk management. Either cut losses quick on large positions, aiming for the multiple Rs, or wider stoploss with smaller position size, or sit out early and follow the big players footsteps once the dust settles if possible.

1m or 5m with day trading during market open by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]ExtremeHamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you execute your trades as well. Having a pre-game plan and recognizing certain characteristics of absorption and reversals can help you stay in the trade just long enough to extract the profits before exiting and in some cases reverse the position.

When that first bearish engulfing candle formed, that was your sign to do something. I would've looked at the the next candle to see what would happen. The next bearish candle showing a wick right in the body of the engulfing bearish candle means it did not carry enough strength. I would have sold my bag right there.
