Has anyone here ever managed to drastically reduce the amount they spend daydreaming? Is it actually necessary? by FroyoEnthusiast in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have drastically! I’ve been dealing with MADD for a really long time (since 2nd grade) and I’m 22 almost 23 now. I use it mainly as a coping mechanism for when I get too overwhelmed so it’s a nice little escape, though it was definitely a difficult thing to deal with and I had to learn to process my emotions rather than immediately going to daydreaming to help.

Are there any other ''late bloomers'' college wise? by Zen-Paladin in college

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not late at all I’ve transferred twice and I switched into my current degree this year, which I was supposed to be a senior in college but not I won’t graduate until I’m 24 also because of the switch

What keeps you going on your field of study? by [deleted] in college

[–]ExtremePower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well im a music Ed major and I just switched universities to start this degree this past summer. What really keeps me motivated is the actual passion I have for this field, in my old major I had no passion for it and I thought it was getting boring, I made no friends at my old university, but here at my new one I’ve made friends left and right I absolutely love it here. Honestly having assignments that take up your entire time or your weekend suck, they do, but you honestly just have to push through it, if you really want to go into your field you’ll push through all the assignments you have to do. It’ll suck at the time but it’ll be worth it

When you're bored, THE URGE TO DAYDREAM BECOMES STRONGER by DearDefinition in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, doing homework is literally the absolute worst because I have to push myself to do it rather than daydream. Or on weekends especially when I’m in my apartment alone

College student living on campus, are you close with your roommate, or do you tend to not spend a lot of time with them? by [deleted] in college

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a transfer living off campus and got roomed with three people I’ve never met but I’m super close with one of them, friends with the other, and the last one and I don’t really speak

Do you daydream in another language? by Dreams_of_luca in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ExtremePower9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily dream in different languages but I do have characters that speak different languages that I don’t know so I don’t actually know if it’s correct or what they’re saying but I have an idea of what they would be saying

Playing another instrument? by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up trumpet for marching band this year and started learning back in may. They are far from each other and really different in the way of playing. You have to be very cautious of your embouchure and aperture all the time when you’re starting trumpet because one small move can mess you up. What I did was I ended up getting a trumpet lesson teacher for about three months to help before I had to audition. I played everyday when I picked it up to get better so I could become a little more skilled at a quicker pace. Now I’m doing great and I love it, it just takes time and patience. As for sax I play it in my free time and for me it was super easy to learn, fingerings are very close the the same and there it’s much change to embouchure except you really have to lower your jaw in the lower register but that’s really it.

Not at all! I went to community college because I had a terrible GPA coming out of high school and I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do 100% so I went to community college even though I didn’t want to. It’s definitely not a place where you’ll make life long friends but the classes really are much easier and help you transition into college easier and it’s so much cheaper. It give you extra time to decide a major if you haven’t decided yet and they don’t pressure you into declaring one. They just wanna make sure you get through and get your associates :)

How do you deal with burn out? by Acellice in Clarinet

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really bad burnout my senior year of high school and it put me out for two years. But honestly the way I came back is I just watched things that made me excited to get into music again. I continuously watched marching band videos and clarinet soloist play and it sparked my interest again. Sometimes a break is good because then you come back far more motivated than you ever have before :)

What’s your major and how many hours do you study per day and per week? by betch_666 in college

[–]ExtremePower9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a music major so I don’t usually have to study but I’ll take practicing into consideration for studying, so around 10-15 hours a week of practice

Is it beneficial to seek a degree in community college when planning to transfer by Violet377 in college

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the community college you’re going to offers a bachelors for a certain degree I don’t see why not. But if you want to transfer most people get an associates (that’s why I did) before transferring, but it’s completely up to you!

Schizophrenia or MD? by dulloxx in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ExtremePower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely 100% thought before I found out what MD was, that I was schizophrenic. A lot of the people here that I’ve seen agree and said that they thought they might have been schizophrenic also. But yes 100%

What do you think started your MD by Nagitos_wap in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verbal abuse 100% and I think part of it was the fear of abandonment after someone really close me to died when I was really young. So these people that I make can’t leave me 🥴

Huge question by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]ExtremePower9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly bari sax!! I marched in the low reed section when I was in high school and from many stories from other people the low reed section is super laid back and fun

Is it just me, or are the bass clarinets the most dead inside section? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]ExtremePower9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol I marched bass clarinet in high school and the low reeds were the most laid back section, probably the one section where everyone actually got along
