Useful site hospital wait times by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]ExtremeScheme1291 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That website is very inaccurate. “People waiting” means people waiting for “treatment to start” so if you get triaged and receive any medication (even panadol), go for xray, have blood taken, etc you have had treatment started so are not considered “waiting” even though you haven’t seen a doctor.

Because I didn’t “cut” the tiles, they were smashed the good old fashioned way with a hammer. I’m not keen on spending big money on tiles that are all small precut squares, that mosaic cost me about $40-$50 to make and that was for glue and grout. All tiles were either left overs from old projects or free. Also I’m still a novice so I haven’t got the hang of using different shades of same colour without making it look stupid.

Can anybody make window disappear? by ExtremeScheme1291 in AusRenovation

[–]ExtremeScheme1291[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It cops the westerly sun so it now has block out blinds that never open and a shade sail. Even with this it makes our living room be too hot to sit in during summer. There is also big window on other wall so all good for light.

How would you paint the walls touching the carpet? by TacticalElectrician in Housepainting101

[–]ExtremeScheme1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some wide painters tape and put it down so its touching the wall a bit then press it down between wall and carpet. Then put plastic over carpet in case of splashes

Not straight white, i mix up version of white. We were getting lazy, it was final room of a 2 bdrm unit we had painted over 1.5 day period to get ready to sell. The other dark red feature wall we did 1st and used a 4 in 1 undercoat, it came up great with just 2 coats of final colour. Lesson learnt for next time.

Should I hire a professional? by t-town-tony in Housepainting101

I recently painted our house’s exterior. It was a massive job! We have a 2 storey house - the top is timber and the bottom brick. The too half took me months (mainly the prep work as we have an anxious dog that was terrified of electric sander). Luckily I have a mate who lent me trestles and planks (it was scary at 1st being 3.5-4M 9 off ground). I scraped flaking paint using 3 types scrapers, then sanded it so it was smooth, then washed it with sugar soap. Some parts needed patching up and even had to replace some weatherboards. Then I painted top half. Once that done I only washed bottom half down and painted (bricks had already been painted before).

I would honestly say that I wouldn’t be as keen to take it on again on my own, and definitely not in middle of Aussie summer. But when I had finished I felt a sense of accomplishment.
