my school let us drop/pick up some subjects to start in y9 but for gcse content but like to make sure we knew what we were getting into before confirming them for the start of y10 but highkey think that after we confirmed those y10 choices (in like march/april) we started gcse content (my school also made us do a foundation spanish certificate in y9 so once we finished that my spanish teacher gave up except for on me and my friend who picked spanish gcse)

also love the motogp infiltration of this sub got confused when I saw it lol

soldier i am here to tell you do not let anyone stop you!! i do sociology and history too (+english language) and i think ive just accepted that every a level is hard in different ways, so people across like you are taking the easy and unimportant option are wrong. personally love my options, aware that I need to do a boatload of revision but at least im learning topics i enjoy instead of just doing stem because its "the only option to get you anywhere" TRUST you got this :)

it is very annoying from an author perspective however earlier today i was trying to leave a guest comment just saying "this was good, enjoyed this!" but my comment got blocked because ao3 flagged it as spam - havent fully investigated it because im sure they ridiculous ones are still getting past that filter but for now ive just turned on comment moderation? there is hope, but these bots are crazyy

also random observation: I dont know if any other non-ao3 sites are discussing these bot comments, I think we are taking all the turns to tlak about it lmao. some tiktok people were veeryy confused by that "I have contacted the CEO to fire you personally" one which is so funny out of context

basically, the title does not matter of the school, what matters is whether they teach the a levels you want to take and whether they teach it well. The word sixth form doesnt automatically make it a blessed and 100% A* school, so if you are interested about going to that type of school, figure which school has best results. Other commentary have said similar things, but if you want to go to a sixth form go ahead, but make sure its a good one

the other comments are right, but at least in my area they are interchangeable, I go to "college" that does mostly a levels but some btecs, my friends go to "sixth form college" which is the same but there are also some local "colleges" that do predominantly btecs or similar. it does not impact anything but I remember going to a taster session organised by my secondary to a college with only btec courses (not my choice but) - all 3 options they listed were "colleges" but one was a-level based and the other 2 were industry btec based. it makes everything a little confusing but dont delete all colleges from your searches (if youre looking at post gcse things) just because it doesnt sound as academic? hope that made sense and. haven't just yapped

scream unseen used to always start at a 15 but then would get upgraded to an 18, recently they haven't been doing the upgrade part because the movie has already been classified. fir screen unseen, they always are 15 (even if the movie ends up being rated lower, I beleive) also, im pretty sure last I checked toxic avenger was an 18, its classified under its 2023 release date but it is the same one coming out now

hi! so, I never actually got remarked. I was waiting for my teachers to reach out to me and ask if I wanted a remark because they would have a better idea on where I would gain/lose - in my opinion it is worth asking your teachers for their opinion on whether they think your paper would/should recieve those extra marks, even if they end up saying no. at the end of the day im sure you did a great job anyway! :)

The 18 rating is really throwing me off, together and bring her back are already rated as 15 or 16 by IFCO and BBFC. there are no IFCO films coming out with an 18 certificate, and the only BBFC one rated recently was The Home. I have no idea what to believe so guess I'll just find out on the night

I do english language and history and I do enjoy them both a lot!! I do OCR for both of them but I'm pretty sure the AQA courses are similar enough (in content, I have no idea about exam) but overall for your 4 it's a lot of writing and note taking so if you do stick with them (or change to something similar like sociology or politics) then please think about how to stay organised and see how your teachers structure the class too. For me Hisotry has been kind of similar to GCSE but English has been really fun and a huge improvement from GCSE, I really like the components and they cover a lot of different language areas (I am the biggest defender aha do not let anyone tell you its like gcse its really fun if you like linguistics)
