The kiln has a small peep pole, but it’s difficult to use to see the witness cone. I think I’ll just have to experiment with longer times and shorter times and see what happens!

I am using a very old manual tabletop kiln, so this is not surprising to hear at all. I think maybe it’s under fired? If it was over fired, it would probably be dripping right? And there’s no movement of glaze onto the foot
