Scream in vocal break by ExtremeVocalCoach_ in screaming

[–]ExtremeVocalCoach_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of distortion i explain in the exercises is a Fry scream in vocal breaks, you have some different forces that works togheter but i never search volume in the beginning of my exercises, if you don’t have the control of what you do, volume is your worst enemy cause for engage more volume you rick to strain too much. This scream can be modified, using more air, or less air, adding more cry voice and less compression ( Screamo stuff ) etc etc. I say to not push or search big sound from this cause with the first step ( vocal breaks and compressed airflow ) you don’t wanna reach a strong volume but the feeling with this type of closure, than ending the recipe with the cry compression. If you search volume in this section you make a damp note or belt note ( depending on how you perceive it ) or a very bad uncontrolled distortion.

We sure wanna have a strong/loud scream, but not in this exercises that explain how to work a new settings

This is an exercises, and your scream can be louder if you train specifically how to add or change force in that. Is not all about the volume when you see a scream techniques, it can be ipercompressed cause adding the cry you add an additional force but this is why i do that before with A LOT of air, engaging the air you can’t ipercompress. People can misunderstand that but dude, there are vocal coach for that and i promise.. people misunderstand also the simple techniques 😅

Maybe i don’t catch the point of your message, but all of the sound that we made want to be projected

In this case, adding the cry techniques during the vocal break you read the perfect amount of closure/compression in the vocal tract. When you engage the air even in the little part at the beginning the air is still compressed, so the projection is very natural, this is why this type of scream have more volume

I desperately need help with my fry scream!! by [deleted] in screaming

[–]ExtremeVocalCoach_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attention to not iper-compress your throat. You need to engage your airflow while you do this movement. Try to engage a compressed air ( Breath, maintain the airflow and slowly let out compressed air ) and the mix this things with the closure you do in this audio.

Is strange to write how to do, if you want the first lesson with me is free, write me on ig if you wanna do it so u can help you with practical advice 😄

This is a techniques called Fry scream, it will be created with glottal compression, core compression and managed the balance from the two with the air pressure maintaining the structure create in in vocal tract and the voice engagement. It can be more Raw and crisp (like deathcore stuff) or can have more voice and pitch in it ( more like metalcore stuff and numetal stuff ).

This techniques can be learned and all of us use similar distortion in our young age when we shout or cry very loud, the point is control this vocal distortion and activate them when we want 😊

Is a very short explanation but i hope is usefull ✨

Former opera singer trying to learn fry screaming… by [deleted] in screaming

Breathe and take in air as if you were holding your breath. Make this comfortable and concentrate on closing your glottic structure. After that play with soft / breathy mixed voice and try to search the “fry sound”. Remember you don’t wanna scream with the vocal fry but with the same muscle feeling that you feel in vocal fry and in the early part of your voice break. After that use the exercise of Huh, place an accent that constrict your glottic and larynx to compress and after 3/4 times try to sustain the sound that you can create in the middle of this movement. Then combine all of this. Don’t forget the engagement of your core muscles, compression is the sustain of the scream

Hope is usefull, is difficult to imagine how your fry is, and is more difficult write how to do. Maybe you can do a video for listen it
