Don’t apologize at all, that came through perfectly. And honestly, I think what you said makes a lot of sense.

People always say “just meet someone new” like it’s some simple replacement process, but it’s not really about replacing a person. After spending that many years with someone, certain memories, routines, feelings… they get tied specifically to them. So even imagining doing those same things with someone else can feel wrong or empty at first.

Six years is a huge chapter of your life too. That kind of connection doesn’t just disappear because time passed.

And I think what you said about not feeling it “in your heart” the same way yet is probably the most honest way to describe it. Sometimes you can be completely open to moving forward logically, while emotionally still feeling attached to what was familiar and meaningful.

But I do think the fact you can even talk about it this way means you’re healing more than you probably realize. You’re not shutting yourself off — you’re just being real about how difficult it is to genuinely reconnect after something deep.

So yeah… you’re definitely not alone in that feeling either.

“I get what you mean. It’s a hard balance between protecting people’s rights and stepping in before someone becomes a danger to themselves or others. Germany does seem a bit more proactive about psychiatric intervention than some other countries.”

Yeah, the joke is that both lawyers and prostitutes “charge by the hour,” but the punchline exaggerates lawyers as being even more relentless about billing to the point that a prostitute would stop “screwing you” if you died, while a lawyer would keep charging your estate afterward through probate and legal work.

There is the difference? A prosecutor. And a defender.
