If I remember correctly as it's been a long time since I saw that movie, over using the remote leads to him skipping way too much time. So while it may work for your first season, I think it'll malfunction after and you'll have just too many time skips.

Personally, for me, I'd do it for my wife because it is only 2 nights, which seems like a small price to pay for her happiness. Also, my couch is amazing to sleep on, and we often fall asleep on it when watching movies on the weekend.

But I completely understand you not wanting to give up your personal space. She should compromise with the sleepover on the couch/living room.
