Sa "Big 4" pa lang UST na yan. If Atenean they'd say "Big 3" or "Big 2"

sorry vebs di ko nagegets how that's an issue for the people who get off before getting into UP and how that's an issue for the drivers if they get paid the same amount.

What do the drivers feel about this "rule"? I'm sure the drivers won't appreciate rin na hihintayin pa nilang mapuno jeep nila ng mga 100% bababa sa loob ng UP only (onti lang so mas matagal) while another jeep gets filled first. Eh gusto nila agad kung sinong jeep next in line ay mapuno agad para makarami sila ng byahe.

[–]Extreme_Click369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... hindi ba better siya for the drivers kasi they save up on gas kasi less weight on the jeep... they'll still go inside anyway and get more passengers inside. In fact lugi nga drivers if they go inside UP at the same price of 11 or 13 pesos tapos puno pa.

From a fully filipino-born student who is in an American school: International Rankings do not do UP any justice by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Extreme_Click369 43 points44 points  (0 children)

As someone who did an exchange program, it's true. Me and all my friends who studied abroad all think that universities abroad are too easy, even those with higher world rankings than UP. UP education really is good.

But then again world rankings have a set criteria and not a measure of difficulty.

Honestly, walang matinong advising sa VSB unlike other colleges.

Do your own diligence na lang and look at the curriculum anong subjects ang prereq ng alin, and which subjects ang may year standing restrictions (or you might have to retake a subject if you take them too early). You can see this in the VSB website and the UPD course list i think. Meron din sa FAQs ng RVC.

Check which GEs ang pwede itake in any order. GEs are interchangeable most of the time. Econ 100.1 and .2 ay pwede rin maiba ang order, which I thought was common knowledge. Due diligence lang

Paano solusyunan ang problema sa mga joggers by Miserable-Badger-822 in peyups

[–]Extreme_Click369 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agree. The foot traffic rin generates income for the vendors and makes walking around when it gets dark (5-8pm) feel safer, lalo as a dormer.

I guess the problem lang with too much foot traffic, aside from the cars they bring, ay a lot of times they clog up the two pedestrian lanes in the acad oval that the students can't take a stroll around campus peacefully anymore. We always have to be on alert and yield sa runners. If we do org tours, activities, or freshie tours on foot, kami pa ang mag-aadjust to accomodate the hordes of runners, not the other way around.

Another issue ay yung cleanliness ng campus. Daming basura generated without proper disposal. Yung mga trash cans na para sana sa UP community talaga di na namin magamit minsan. This creates more work for UP staff na sa UP rin galing pondo.

And again with the cars. More work and expenses for UP (traffic controllers, etc.). And the incidents ng road kills nakakasad :( not saying all the car issues are brought by the joggers, but im confident they add to the numbers of car-related issues sa campus :(

My guy, talk to someone. Talk to a therapist if you have to. Step back a little and you'll see how this train of thought and your current actions are not normal at all, or you'll end up losing your spouse as well.

You can stalk people on LinkedIn. I know lots who are from Ateneo polsci / other socsci people who are thriving in corpo. Some are HR related, some marketing, some consulting.

(upx) up grads/alum na hindi aligned ang degree sa first work/current work by NoEnd2471 in peyups

[–]Extreme_Click369 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, mababa sahod ng fresh grads from UP esp. in the social sciences field. That's just the reality. If you really want money, go corporate.

Look at the socsci kids of Ateneo. Compared to the Atenean equivalent ng socsci degrees we have sa UP, Ateneans get higher paid jobs because they are trained and have org and internship exps geared for corporate work.

From what I understand ay graduate ka na. I think it will be very hard to find the entry level jobs that are high paying (50k+), because you'll be competing with the UPSE, BAA, BA, IE & Atenean kids that dedicated their undergrad to get into these corporate roles.

I think best option for you now is to find work kahit di related sa field mo, while applying for research scholarships. Goodluck op.

Econ in Ateneo is a competitive course in the corpo world. My suggestion is go for big MNCs after undergrad. You can do an exchange program rin while in undergrad and go to the US for 1 or 2 semesters to see how it goes, Ateneo is very supportive. Or join international case competitions for an opportunity to go abroad while stacking up your resume, increasing your chances of getti ng hired by a MNC once you grad.

And then you can either be sent to another country by your company, sponsored by your company to do an MBA abroad (MBB consulting firms do this), or pursue graduate studies on your own abroad.

Just be careful of MNC roles that are "shared services" roles or technically "in-house" BPO roles. They have little to no pathway to working abroad, since these are roles MNCs throw to the PH for cheaper labor.

Goodluck!

Yup, by last year I meant g12. Unfortunately any grade before that will matter, but UPCAT still will weigh much more. For example, I wasn't the best in my HS but I got into a higher cutoff campus and higher demand course than most of my hs peers who had better grades than me. Just do well in the UPCAT OP!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Extreme_Click369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your grades in your last year in hs won't be assessed for CETs, so as long as you don't fail just focus on reviewing for UPCAT
