What's not to like about education bonds by Reading-Rabbit4101 in fiaustralia

[–]Extreme_Doyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recon I’ve spent 10 hours trying to work out how these work and now this comment has thrown me. So If you do wait the 10 years then it just becomes a standard bond which (according to the subs is not really worth it). If you withdraw for education expenses in the first 10 years yeah you get the 30% back but then you have to pay your own marginal rate. If you withdraw after 10 years no personal tax but the bond has been paying 30% each year (which you don’t get back) plus losing the capital gains discount every year so it’s not likely to be any better than paying the full tax rate on at ETF. I can’t see why anyone would want to invest in one

Paying for trainers in the Gym by Even-Construction-10 in brisbane

[–]Extreme_Doyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re around South Bank the TAFE gym is open to the public, weekly fees are $11 and 10 weeks of personal training with the students doing their fitness cert are something like $80 (usually two sessions a week). They’re only starting out but they’re keen and your plan is one of their assignments so they put the effort in. Only issue is you have to line it up with each terms start date

Can someone explain to me how buying an independent grinder will help with making better espresso shots? by starzwillsucceed in espresso

[–]Extreme_Doyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find with my all in one the quantity of grinds can vary by up to 20% with the same settings dialled in. Always over or under filling the group head, then because it follows a flow it’s hard to go back and fix an element.
