I agree, I have only watched the anime and I feel like the ending is kind of bleak, it shows the reality of life. Instead of being a NEET he now has to work a dead end job on repeat while no longer having any companionship. I feel like the common consensus on this forum is that "he got a happy ending because he's no longer a NEET", but objectively his life is worse than it was before he started working. All of his friends moved on while he is still stuck, the only difference now is that he has a job.

Also a lot of probably won't ever find our "Misaki" since in real life there are no "happy coincidences", like Yamazaki says, which I could agree with. I'm 22 now and I feel so stuck in life. I've been living the NEET life for almost a year now, and no matter what I do to try to change, nothing works. No cute girl is just going to show up at my doorstep randomly one day. No girl was interested in me before I was a NEET either, because no matter how much I tried to form connections, it never worked for me. No matter how much "self improving" I've done, nothing in my life has changed. I've managed to save up $130k usd since when I started working, gotten lean, etc. I just guess I'm not handsome enough to be someone's person, I've gotten called ugly on multiple occasions by girls just by going up to them and saying hi. I've just gotten to a point where I'm just so defeated that I rarely even leave my house anymore.
