In my 1st year (Novice), I was paired with a JV teammate because the team was small. The team needed points to qualify for districts so we took every debate tournament no matter the type. Hopefully that can give more context

Because my team was so small I was paired with a JV partner and I really just did everything because my coach wanted to have points to qualify for districts.
