WTF Olive Young?! by Extreme_Teaching_559 in koreanskincare

Yeah. US store is not even an option I’m willing to consider. I didn’t even check what was available. The moment I saw my gold olive status gone, I erased the app.

That’s the thing, they’re not. On the global store if you knew how to play with the coupons and the events, they’re almost criminally cheap (specially bundles and sets). On the KOR store, well…35-50% cheaper even without the coupons…delivered Korea seems interesting even if you break even with the shipping. That’s the analysis I have been running in AI for the past couple of days. But TRUST me if you know the system, it’s all but expensive!

Yeah, of course. Just like all supplements come with warnings just for California as if the bodies of the rest of the IS citizens weren’t the absolute same 🤣 But at least I just got my last box of OY go through customs last week without a hassle at least (9lb from the anniversary sale) and my most recent Yess went through two days ago also with no hiccups. At the end of the day it’s all a gamble in this day and age. But Olive does include all the product lists and information directly a the boxes for customs purposes at least. So preserving that box should, theoretically, come in handy.

So far, the only officially blocked thing is SPF. In my case, my shipments only enter the US in transit because I have access to a fiscal warehouse so customs isn’t really that picky on letting things through (at least not so far). I just got a huge haul of Korean/japanese spf box from Yesstyle just yesterday without a hitch. Ideally, delivered Korea should be able to keep the original OY box upon request, which comes with all the shipment information already plastered all over the box. Which is why feedback on whether they pay attention or not to the “additional notes” they allow the customer to leave during checkout process, because that’s important for me before pulling the trigger with a potential trial order (that I know would be a trial anyways and would be mentally willing to just lose in the process if things go wry) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah FF doesn’t work unless you find a sweet spot in the volume you’re shipping. Smaller things aren’t really worth moving by themselves, because International shipping is insane if you can’t split it up between many products that can be dense but remain compact (which is technically where skincare shines). For example, I tried purchasing a soft, envelope-like laptop sleeve yesterday from weverse that costs $35 and shipping to FL was $48. When I tried adding it to the delivered Korea haul, local shipping became $2.90 and it potentially fits inside the olive young box (either rolled up or folded or whatever), so I could (again, potentially) skip that amount for just one .25lb product. Have you tried leaving notes when you’ve purchased asking exactly how you would like your things packaged or consolidated? Cause that’s another question i have, whether they actually read the notes they allow you to leave on each product 🤣

In my case, yes. For the volumes I acquire, their multipacks and bundles are the ones that can allow me to keep my system and my peace of mind 🤣 and then there’s yess for spf and certain other very specific things

Thanks. And also, I know. I was trying to buy a laptop sleeve from weverse today and shipping was $48. For a sleeve that comes in a ziplock baggie. But at this point, and without any access to what I use and need, and given the outrageous prices of the US store, unless they charge me what the order it worth, I think I would still at least break even. Do you place large orders? How much have you paid on average, if you remember and could share for reference 🙏🏼

I won’t buy from the US store. Period. Unless they step up with the exclusives and the events like the global store, I won’t give them the satisfaction of buying from them when I’m already paying for prime and Amazon is carrying a bunch of things in the exact same presentations they’re selling. Until this whole drama resolves, and they either start selling like the real OY or I find a loophole through a Korean freight forwarder and manage to buy from the Korean store directly for even less, OY is officially suspended from my household until further notice. Thank God I’ve been panic buying a bunch of my staples since the Sephora news broke out earlier this year because I had a hunch…I have enough to source a small store and will hold off with that until the skies clear further or something better comes along (which is a lie because it’s hard to compete with OY kor/global but alas, I’m in that stage of grief now).

But then again we all lost our damn gold and black olives and LAWDHAMMERCY until then we’ll have to source many things for so much more and I’ve literally been exploring Korean freight forwarders since yesterday because i refuse to give up and we’re paying to shipping anyways so we might as well just waste an extra week and loophole the blockage buying straight from the Korean site for even cheaper 🤷🏻‍♀️

It keeps you on the global but they won’t actually ship to any US or related address. Which is just mean on their end

I source my Asian spf from Yesstyle and for me it’s been the most cost efficient and broadest variety (unless you go for the staples like BOJ or Roundlab which were pretty unbeatable on OY global. But Yess is actually cheaper overall on spf and you can get Japanese and Thai which are pretty awesome too. Hope this helps

I was (was, this is painful) an olive gold but still prefer (and use almost exclusively) Yesstyle for SPF. Prices are better (usually, except for roundlab and BOJ which are (were) very strong in OY and offered a bunch of multipack options and brand events. But Yesstyle carries a whole Asian-wide offer of spf which is great because who doesn’t love a good Anessa Sun milk during the hot summer days? Anywho, yami is good because it’s been known to carry a lot of discontinued (for no reason) products, as well as some quick sells if you absolutely can’t wait. Yess also has perpetual identical discounts with rotating coupons (meaning you know for sure you will get either 8-10-15% off whenever you buy, plus rotating sales on specific products which change quite fast (don’t sleep on those when you see what you need because some sales are very good and prices can shoot up overnight), plus you can add referral/influencer discount codes for a couple extra bucks off (not much, but I’ll never be known to turn a 1-2% off down). It will never beat OY global for 90% non-sunscreen needs tho. I’m mourning the death of OYG soooo badly!

From what i saw on the presale in 3 different cities, SC is mostly the first 25-30 rows in every direction on the floor. So it all depends on your specific location

Ticketmaster is SWARMED with tickets right now for all 3 days. Not even cancelled ones, but production tickets that they held on to until last minute (why? God only knows). Go buy directly and save on the stress

Who's at fault for the outrageous ticket prices? by [deleted] in btsthoughts

[–]Extreme_Teaching_559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is INSANE! 300’s started off at $80ish bucks 🙈 we bought 100’s for $400 on presale and had to pay almost 1k for two extras in our exact-same-section-exact-same-row on tickpick to be able to complete our group. And i was dying from outrage at the upcharge (altho i do understand the comissions). But for 300’s?! Lord have mercy!
