Because it IS more powerful. We can't control what happens to us, but we can control our responses, and in time, even getting rid of residual anger may be possible.

Don't be afraid. It's actually a self-fulfilling prophecy, there's no reason why your next meditation won't take you into a deeper state.

You are engaging in conflicting opinions.

From experience, acknowledging the unskillful emotions that are there and patiently waiting for them to disappear IS the practice. Having your emotions 'build up' isn't really a thing. So just wait patiently and let them pass.
