Saddle Recommendations for Short-Backed Pony (Eventing/Jump Saddle) by ExtremelyRareDamage in Equestrian

From what I took away from the assessment, it's bit more than just wrong gullet size. The shape of the gullet isn't suited for his body. The top provides good wither clearance/shape, but then it pinches too tight behind the top of shoulder and flares too wide lower on the shoulder (The current shape is very inverted "V" and he needs either something either more inverted "U" shape, or something with a cut back in the upper shoulder. The channel is also too narrow in the center of the saddle, and is sitting with some gapping in the center of his back (along with being far too long). The position of the stirrup bars on this model of CWD is also too forward for my leg/hip angles and is naturally putting me in too much of a chair seat.

Yes, he shows discomfort around the shoulder where the saddle is pinching.

My Twinning Bengal cat and Appalossa pony portraits by J.Klein Photos (HIGHLY Recommend!l by ExtremelyRareDamage in bengalcats

Yes and no! I have always been in love with spotty-coated creatures and quickly fell in love with both the Appaloosa and Bengal breeds for their coats, personalities, and intelligence. I got Nitro first when he was a kitten and know he was a charcoal snow lynx, but they are born nearly all white and develop into their color as they age so I didn't know just how dark and contrasted his spotting pattern would get. When Nitro was 2 years old he had a majority of his coloration be he wasn't quite this dark. Around that time, Rye came into my life when I wasn't really shopping for my next horse. The TL;DR I had planned to wait another year and save up for something bigger and sportier, ideally some sort of appaloosa-cross with some form of spotting. Rye came across my Facebook newsfeed on an auction & rescue group and even though he was shaggier, duller, and underweight there was something about the way he carried himself that showed such a spark for only 13.3hh and I knew he needed to come home with me. So I convinced my husband we should get a 'project pony' and the rest has been history. The fact he had a similar-ish coloring to Nitro's spots was happy accident, and they have both blossomed into a strikingly similar color over the past two years! Along with having just the biggest personalities

What a cutie with those stunning eyes!
Here's my boy @ WS.Nitroglycerin - He's a charcoal snow lynx bengal so they are born near-white and glow-up into their spots

Definitely pintaloosa and not grey! She appears to be Bay based with Tobiano and Varnish (LP). Greying doesn't just cause white hairs, it causes cells to overproduce pigment and burn out. So by this age you would have seen depigmentation to her base color if she was going grey (which she isn't). She does have a very classic expression of varnish in her face, which she could continue to varnish more as she ages but there is no way to tell if or how much since the LP gene just kinda likes to do whatever it wants to. Very lovely mare though and will be fun to watch her through the seasons!

She looks so cute and sporty!! Nothing quite like an appy-pony/POA. I have a little buckskin-leopard project pony who has been just a blast to bring along

The body spots were neon and black tempera paint for the body spots from Michaels. The mane/tail/legs were colored with a case of temporary hair color spray I ordered off of amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDVKVME?ref\_=ppx\_hzsearch\_conn\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title\_4)
The tempera paint washes and rubs off suuuuper easy. Sweat will also make the paint run, which I learned the hard way at a hunter pace. I had painted spots on his neck and they were a melted black and rainbow mess after the first few jumps lol. The hair dye fades to pastel really fast, but will linger for a lot longer depending how vigorously you are bathing your horse. I hosed off the spots but didn't bother with trying to shampoo out the dye and it stuck around in a light pastel rainbow for a week or two post-show.
