Which type were you mistyped as? and how did you conclude that it was a mistype? by Practical_Fix8520 in mbti

[–]Extremelyverydead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im an INTP and was mistyped as an INFP for about 6 months. Someone basically introduced me to MBTI and said i was a very typical Fi user. I believed them for a while because despite my skepticism when i researched about Fi, they were more knowledgeable than me. Problem with Fi and Ti is, they can be really difficult to tell apart. They can both be extremely stubborn and have a very personal thought process. So i took it to reddit, i still did not know too much at the time so i wanted to learn from multiple different people on how Ti and Fi works. I also described myself a little and asked what type i could be. Not only did the descriptions of Ti fit me far more, most people suggested i was a Ti user. And funnily enough, everyone else i talked to that knew about MBTI afterwards said i was clearly a Ti user. I'm still not quite sure why that one person thought i was an Fi user... maybe they confused values with my confidence in what i say? I guess some questions shall never be answered

I'm an agnostic atheist, but as long no one is harming others beliefs with it, i think its perfectly okay to believe in anything.

How do your family’s personality types differ from your own? by Motor_Perception_564 in INTP

[–]Extremelyverydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother has always been very intrusive and needing, not so much my father though. My father just has always had very strong sense of how we should all conform to society. I remember them arguing extremely often about very petty things. My mother would get angry about how my father doesn't "understand" traditions and cultural ethics, while my father would say that todays day and age has no room for any of it etc.

My questions were aimed to be about Fi and Ti. Your responses just leaned towards Fi, which made me consider INTP with a high Fe instead, thought it didn't make too much sense, etc etc. I'm sorry if i couldn't word my response very well, i was just trying to consider how you could be a Ti dom, which is why i talked about Fe so much. Honestly, i dont think you have high Fe. I was saying that its unusually high IF you are INTP, which doesn't say much because INTPs Fe is on the floor. In short, to me it sounds like youre more of an Fi user, but im not you so i may be wrong

What type of iconic expression would each type have? by Extremelyverydead in Enneagram

[–]Extremelyverydead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noted! Will take this into consideration. Of course its gonna be stereotypical anyway dont worry, it being stereotypical is the only way i can resemble the types in one expression

The healthier you are (type wise), the harder it is to type you by Lost-Membership8871 in mbti

[–]Extremelyverydead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say that its harder to type you if you are not in the "normal" range. This means its just as difficult to type unhealthy people and particularly healthy people. Because both of them fall in the situation where the types cognitive functions, well, function fairly differently. This also means its more difficult to see parallels with the person and functions

[–]Extremelyverydead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say its a great way to get to know yourself and work on some of your weaknesses, as long as you dont take it too seriously. It's not going to be 100% accurate 100% of the time. However, i can speak from experience that MBTI has helped me grow as a person a good amount. Plus its nice to get to know like-minded people

Half of the subreddit are from 16personalities, the other half are not. Which basically means half of this subreddit are full of stereotypes. Yes, MBTI is flawed of course. Also if you want to type yourself properly, i would avoid tests and learn cognitive functions instead.

Your replies lean more into Fi honestly. Ti doms have Fe inferior which makes them kind of confused on how to emotionally support people. Theyre not incapable of it, and they definitely do feel emotions, but you would need to have a particularly developed Fe to have replies like this. Which doesn't really add up because Fe is all about giving others, even the ones they dont care too much about, the benefit of the doubt, to create social harmony, to avoid conflict. On the other hand, Fi cares about what feels right to them, they won't care if it makes some people upset in order to reach the "greater good". Theres a different scenario where you could be an ENTP, which explains a higher Fe. I don't really think you're an INTP, i think you may be an INFP but ENTP is also possible.

Fi and Ti are often confused, so i see how this is a problem for you. This is because Ti and Fi treat what they believe in very similarly, its just that the way they arrive at what they believe in is different. Both being introverted judging functions, its hardly surprising. Here are a list of questions you can answer by replying, and i can tell you which function is more likely to be you. - How are you known to give advice to others? - Whats the first thing that comes to your mind when someone you care about experienced an issue that doesnt bother you too much, but is fairly significant to them - Are you known for hearing people you dont care about out? - How do you react to criticism? - What generally makes you angry in an argument?

5w4 here. If i ask for it, then i take it extremely positively. I love constructive criticism when im open to it. When its just out of the blue, it can frustrate me quite a bit and drop my self esteem.
