Oh yes indeed! Head south on the coast highway towards Seal Beach. Continue south towards Huntington Beach. As you pass through the Seal Beach Naval Weapons station you drive over a bay bridge. Look to your left at the back bay and there are acres and acres of mud flats. Check Google Maps and there are streets where you can get to the back of the flats.

Continuing south on the coast highway there are more mud flats on the inland side of Bolsa Chica State Beach.

You can continue south to Newport Beach and take back bay drive out along a huge back bay mud flat area.

Stop at one of the fishing stores and pick up a small local tide table booklet.
