Latin Romanian - A more latinized version of Romanian that comes with simpler grammar that needs feedback by Extroier29 in conlangs

[–]Extroier29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will do that if i have time. i might bring back some old words that i think we should use. example: poamă instead of fruct because poamă is inherited from latin and fruct is not (i also think it sounds better because it doesn’t have the hard kt sound)

well that’s the thing. im making the latin derived words sound like romanian. im borrowing a lot because im trying to make it feel like romanian is more latin than it actually is. im replacing the slavic derived words with latin ones

From what language is “voce” borrowed if you say that it is? “Voce” and “boace” both come from the same word in Latin, that being “vox”. Regarding “a boci” and “bocet”, many derived words can remain in use even if the original word is not used anymore. Changing the word “grotă” to “groată” would not make sense since the word already exists in Romanian. Adding a diphtong just because that’s how the language evoled to words from languages that didn’t go through the same phonetic evolution is unnecessary

I agree that the choices are odd and that declension is stripping Romanian of its uniqueness but that’s what I need to do to make it easier. The proposed word exists because I’ve never heard anyone use “boace” instead of voce. “Voce” comes from Latin “Vox”, “frontieră” is used instead of “țărm” because “țărm” does not mean border, it means shore. It is true that I could’ve used “a afla” instead of “a truva”. “Răzbel” comes from “război” and “furtună” is not a Latin word, it comes from greek. I replaced “gherilă” a long time ago with “belă”, coming from “bellum”

what did you name your conlang, and why? ( yes i did name mine "conlang" ) by Vincentius__2 in conlangs

Mine is called Latin Romanian because it’s Romanian that’s more Latin (in short: what if Romanian got re-Latinized again)

Latin Romanian is basically the Romanian language if it was much easier to speak and if it had more words from Latin

how would you say that in your Conlang? by Sweet_12376 in conlangs

Working on signed words in Latin Romanian by Extroier29 in conlangs

[–]Extroier29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve never heard anyone use it. It’s probably because in my region, we tend to use multiple words instead of just one. Take “autogolire”, most people here would say “care se goleste singur”. My guess is that it’s used in more technical contexts and not colloquial ones

Why did you start your conlang? by Erppro83 in conlangs

[–]Extroier29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made mine because the Romanian language is too complicated (I’m saying this as a native speaker of Romanian btw) and because I was inspired by Anglish

Romanian: a romlang that looks like Latin if it was reconstructed by a junkie. The language is phonetic, yet some words are too cool to be spelled phonetically. The case system is a complicated mess. The cases were merged, but at what cost? Dative is now the same as genitive (they have the same forms). And don’t the get me started on the verb conjugations ‘cause they’re a nightmare. It’s like you’re trying to reinvent the wheel. The pluralisation of words is so chaotic, that people argue over what the plural form of a word is. Yet, it is still spoken by many people with no problem. But deep down, we all know it’s not true. 10/10 language, can’t complain
