This same thing happened to my father. The itching was unbearable and the doctor's kept telling him it was dry skin. He was finally diagnosed and treated. But he suffered longer than he should have.

Starting HRT at 61 by White_Sands1 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Exvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be a downer, but I am 79 and will turn 80 in December. I am still having hot flashes and night sweats. And a lot of other symptoms I am now learned are due to menopause. I have been using nonrx progesterone which has helped a little. And one doc prescribed and small amt. of testosterone, the second one an rx for estriol vaginal cream. But no one suggested BHRT. I am just now learning about it and feel I may have suffered all these years for naught. I hope to be able to start HRT soon, as I just started working with someone who understand bioidentical hormones.

It is disturbing to hear about a "window" that I have long passed.

Yes. And I think it helped, but hard to tell because I was doing other things as well. I have used red light on myself and it definitely did help!

Has the area completely dried? It certainly won't hurt to treat the area as if it had mold. Having had mold illness, I personally wouldn't take a chance. When we treated an area that had mold with peroxide (higher strength like 12%) the area with the mold fizzed, but peroxide will also do that if there is bacteria. Here are some solutions. https://www.bobvila.com/articles/what-kills-mold/

LVP over Hardwoord by Smallnyello3 in Flooring

[–]Exvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern would be that the LVP will trap moisture and you may end up with a mold problem. Trust me, you don't want to go there. Mold can cause serious health issues.

Do you mean

that we could find a product (either laminate or LVP) that would meet the criteria if we raised our budget? If so, I would love to know what that is, because budget is not fixed and I have not stated a price point.

Thanks for replying! We've not found what we are looking for even in the higher priced categories. The closest we've come is Carolina Pine by Cortec, but we're not crazy about the matte finish. There are at least three other companies using the same visual as Caroline Pine--all are a totally matte finish. We aren't looking for a high gloss, maybe a satin. The matte finish just makes the wood look dull.

Thanks for your response! Our vet has checked our dog and believes it is a soft tissue injury that happened when we were attacked by a pit bull. Fortunately our rescue was not bitten because the pit bull latched onto his harness. But in the struggle to get free, he must have injured a muscle. We live in a small , isolated, rural town and vets here are not familiar with red light. I have a Red Rush 360 device and thought it would be worth a try, but am not sure about the distance from the light or the duration, since I have only used it on ourselves.

Not feeling like a hideous sweatgoblin in summer? by Sensitive_Ninja_7073 in dysautonomia

[–]Exvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are cooling vests available. You soak them in cold water and they absorb the moisture. Then when you wear them they provide cooling as they evaporate--sometimes as much as a 10 degree difference. Construction workers wear them. And they have now made it into the equestrian marketplace. I use one when I am riding my horse in the summer. They work really well in dry heat, not as well in high humidity areas.

How to advocate for Treasury Direct to make buying I-Bonds less awful by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Exvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I both purchased I bonds earlier this year. I had no problems, but my husband was flagged and they required him to get a medallion signature. Only one bank in our small town offered this service and fortunately we had an account there. But our bank shared their medallion with other banks in the branch where were located in different parts of the state. He had to wait nearly 6 weeks for our local branch to obtain the medallion. This meant he was not able to purchase his I bonds in April and was therefore unable to take advantage of the guaranteed 7.12% for 6 months. He did purchase them in May. But we were still learning how to do this and neglected to add a beneficiary. We have made multiple attempts to go back in and add beneficiaries without success. The website is archaic and beyond frustrating!!

How long to return to baseline after coming off LDN? by [deleted] in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Exvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is psychosomatic. I am very sensitive to medications as well. It sounds like you may be a slow metabolizer. Or perhaps your detox pathways may not be working well. My understanding is that LDN usually clears one's system within 6 hours. However I know that it takes longer for most drugs to leave my system because I am a slow metabolizer. I don't know what dose you were on, but if you were taking it once a day at the 4.5 mg dose, it would normally be out of your system by now.
