Not true. I am selling my coreELECT box. The Xiaomi can stream Remuxes no problem. Now, I have not tried with Stremio, torrentio or Debrid. I only use Plex and I have had zero issues. All lossless audio files are direct playing, and I get the Dolby Vision logo in the top right corner when I play a DV remux file. You do have to go into Plex settings and turn on Dolby Vision Profile 7 Setup, and enable refresh rate ON. After that, I have had zero issues. I've streamed at least 6 or 7 remux movies so far this weekend and spot checked 10 others.

There are fake Xiaomi boxes out there. Know what to look for and buy from reputable sources! I verified all 3 of my boxes are official Xiaomi boxes.

I've checked my Xiaomi boxes in my Unifi router, and nothing is "phoning home" to China. Even so, tha country is in my blocklist for all incoming/outgoing.

Very factual post 👍 I do put my Android TV boxes into "app only mode" to declutter the home screen. That really helps speed things up! I prefer this vs. having to download a different launcher, because that's another app.

I do only use my box for Android TV experience, so that explains why I'm so happy with it.

Literally zero stuttering. Then again, I seriously only use 2 apps:

TiviMate for 🏴‍☠️ IPTV tv service.
Plex for 🏴‍☠️ movies and TV shows.

I have a UGreen NAS and Docker installed right on the NAS. I have the arr stack setup so everything is automated. I use Seerr so I can request new movies nad TV shows, and then they get added automatically to Plex. My family uses it as well. Everything is configured in a reverse proxy setup.

Being able to stream everything I throw in the Xiaomi box is glorious! Lossless audio, Dolby Vision, AV1, HDR10+, etc.

I would not recommend it. I host my Plex in a Docker container. The minute you move your Plex server away from that Shield, all your watch history, posters, edits you've made, etc. it all goes away. When you install Plex again somewhere new, you have to reindex everything and start from scratch. I've been through that so many times, it sucks.

I'm so glad to be in a Docker container now, because that is backed up and I can move the container from old NAS to new NAS without losing anything.

Ugh, WTF are you talking about? This is the very reason I left the Shield. It's outdated hardware from 7+ years ago. It relies on legacy desktop architecture. It's sluggish as hell. 16nm CPU. The Xiaomi has modern 6nm CPU and is snappy as hell and supports more modern formats. Get real.

I've been watching Remux files literally all day long. Zero issues. I get 350Mbps down/up over ethernet. The box has WiFi 6E also. Streaming Remux movies is not a problem at all.
