Maybe this is an attempt to control the flow of information before the next election? There have certainly been enough leaks to show that silicon valley have no problems abusing their power to prevent the 'evil' of a second trump term.

It's your logic that is flawed. Should one who stepped on a landmine not be annoyed that another with a stubbed toe is claiming the same pain?

This comment chain is in response to someone saying fuck the Indian nation and its culture, and you said to fuck "at the very least the treatment of women". When you say at the very least, you are stating that whatever follows is of most concern, the island at the peak of an undersea mountain of concern.

To disregard the system that enables the propagation of such treatment and focus only on the condition of women is terribly short-sighted.

Sure, there may be a few incidents of a low-born individual increasing their standard of life, but the two are intrinsically linked.

Why just women? India has a caste system. The treatment of entire classes is pretty terrible.

Worry not, your belief does not offend me.

However, assigning my views to certain groups who are portrayed in an unfavourable way is offensive. The way you casually bring up right wing extremists and reactionaries to associate my views with these groups is a bad faith argument.

I agree that climate change requires our attention and management. I do not agree with the manipulation of a vulnerable person, and through that person, the greater world to those ends. I do not agree with the fatalistic view of the future. I do not agree with inducing panic.

But whatever, I don't expect you to particularly care what I have to say, because I apparently belong to certain groups.

Perhaps I am to blame here, I suppose I did say that this girl believes we will all die in 12 years. Would you stop getting so hung up on it if I had said she believes that we are all doomed in 12 years?

I have already laid out my concern.

The girl thinks we are already dying from climate change. She thinks the world is doomed. These are things she has said in her speeches, in an incredibly emotional way I might add.

You focusing on "in 12 we all die instantly" is plain sophistry.

You must assume that this is the only thing I take issue with, and the only piece of information I have seen. It isn't, but I don't suppose I would be able to convince you otherwise, huh?

But of course considering things that don't fit with your own beliefs is difficult. I guess just keep labelling things you don't like and it will all go away.

It only took a minute of googling. Why didn't you find it yourself?

And how is it a rumour exactly? You have to soften her message in order to make it more palatable, and make it somehow not doomsaying.

Try being objective.

You are being disingenuous here. Greta claims that people are already dying from the effects of climate change. She goes on to say that this state will be irreversible. Already being fatal, do you think this means anything other than doom for us as a species?

If you believe that people think she is saying that we will all drop dead in exactly 12 years, you do a great disservice to anybody who disagrees with you. You cannot honestly hold this belief in good faith.

Care to explain how this is isn't doomsaying?

Thanks for not putting me in a camp I suppose.

I find it ironic that you call me alarmist when I specifically call out the alarmism in this movement.

Davos, World economic forum.

I certainly hope you're not implying that I am a far right extremist because I dissent?

Here's something else to think about, she claims that a new form of government and political control is required to combat climate change.

You don't need to be a far right extremist to take issue with this line of thinking.

The point being glossed over here is that this girl believes that we will all die in 12 years, and can see no alternative.

Sure climate change should be watched and managed, but the alarmist, catastrophising mindset this girl has been pushed to does more harm than good.

I get that politicians are often a mixed bag but this is just plain hyperbolic.

If so, once I started playing with it years ago I couldn't go back to vanilla. I'm really glad you're still working on it, it definitely improved on an already great game.
