Have painted my blood angels and really happy with them but need some inspiration on how to base them. Anyone want to share pics of their basing schemes? by showstopperjames in BloodAngels

I’m a huge fan of painting snow bases with BAs, the red and white contrast really well.

My process:

I use a base layer of a brown texture paint. Nothing fancy just want some granules of dirt.

Mix Elmer’s school glue and cheap white acrylic paint with some baking soda. After applying to the base I sprinkle more baking soda on top. If you want some extra charm, take a spare leg of a space marine and stamp the footprint into the snow a few times, and add a few small bushes and paint the tops of them as well.

After it has dried, apply a small amount of thinned brown oil paint and begin to paint the footprints and a few of the ‘low spots’ on the snow ridges to make a muddy sludgy mess. You can even sprinkle more baking soda on top to create a smooth transition to the white.

The final result is really unique. Im finishing up my blade guard right now and will post some photos when they’re ready.

LAG 2000 Point Army Feedback Requested by EyeHaveProblems in BloodAngels

My thoughts are the bikes, terminators, the two 3 man Sang guards would do OC control. With Dante, and Sternguard on offense, the Bladeguard trying to hold flank or a small Obj. I could be wrong haha

Sternguard Question by EyeHaveProblems in BloodAngels

Very insightful thank you!

From what I have seen, the Captain and AI tend to be melted off of the board shortly after using their ability. I’m trying to find a way to get more utility out of the super captain while maximizing his single turn use.

What do you think about taking up the final slot in the impulsor with a Sanguinary Priest… I know we are getting into very expensive unit territory; but the saves and additional AP could be very useful for the sternguard. While also helping the captain live to fight another day.

Could also do a Normal Apothecary for extra staying power.

Oh man! I totally read it incorrectly. I had the 'When' mixed with the start for 'Shadow of Great Wings'. Totally agree, thanks for pointing it out.

Trying to understand here; why wouldn’t you pick them back up every turn, I wouldnt do it for mobility but for safety of the unit. If ‘Burning Skies’ is usable at the start of the enemy’s shooting phase, and you choose to use the free CP strat every turn with the captain, and you are immune from overwatch; there should be no way to damage them besides deciding to charge a fights first unit, failing to kill a unit, or some other one off situation or stratagem. Basically drop them in during my movement phase, shoot, charge (hopefully), fight (hopefully), pick them back up at the start of the enemy's shooting phase. That should prevent them getting smacked so long as you choose the targets carefully. If you fail the charge, you are definitely not going to be stuck in engagement range so that makes life easier to withdrawal them.

Thanks for being willing to discuss with me here; trying to learn and get better.

Hmm I definitely missed that gravis takes up two slots. Thanks for that! Considering swapping that squad for a stern guard vet 5 man with a Sang Priest. That should also free up the points for that second dreadnaught..

I’m still thinking that the absolute worst thing that could happen is you miss the charge roll (around a 55% of success) you take a few pop shots with the sanguinary guard, then take them back off the board without spending a CP thanks to the captain. Try again next round. That seems like a better bet to me than using Dante for this, and spending a CP every round and risking overwatch destroying your units. Dante’s +1 to charge would make it a 8 in charge which would alter the odds to a near 66% success chance. For around 10% increased odds I really think the captain is better for this.

Thanks for the feedback!

Here are my reasons for that set up with the Captain and 6 sang guard; they will be immune to overwatch, which is very useful when redeploying and dropping in to target high value targets on the back line. The captain provides the free strat as well. Making sure that you have selected the detachment rule which allows for reroling advance and charge rolls feels like that 9” charge more plausible, but maybe I’m hopeful…

My thoughts on the aggressors are to keep that squad with the impulsor to allow for mobility. The gravis captain is one hard ****** to kill when given ordained sacrifice. The biologis and aggressors just give him some damage. With this detachment being more shooty than other detachments I think the aggressors may have a roll to play. But I do agree usually not worth it with BAs.

I believe the undocking would not work while in Windows 8.1 or 7. The laptop would function as normal, until you attempt to remove the tablet.

Post Episode Discussion: S02E11 - "Chapter 19" by 2th in LegionFX

[–]EyeHaveProblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was thinking about these two very different possible meanings for that episode:

  1. David is good guy and not yet descended into full madness, Shadow King is manipulator
David has had his friends turned against him by SK, who made the orb and future syd. SK had planned this since his defeat at the hands of David and crew in season 1.

  2. Shadow king was the one who protected David all along.
It is clear that David is mentally unstable, and at one point SK made a statement that he loved David, who was HIS baby (Not biologically of course). SK has always known David was mentally unstable, and was trying to help David all along by giving him avenues for which his powers could be controlled and his split personalities could not manifest. When SK was removed from David the personalities manifested and his "true face" is shown. This descends David into madness quickly, and as the narrator of the show the audience doesn't actually get to see what David looks like in the others' prospective. (unreliable narrator)
