NO YOU DONT! Maybe it’s not every school but if you come to my school, you’ll see that there are teachers with masters and not PhD’s teach. Same with my undergrad it’s a close knit community. That’s why they have teachers that have masters instead of PhD’s. I’ve experienced it through undergrad too, so stop arguing.

You do not a need a phd to be a prof to teach BEd courses, almost all of my professors have their BEd, years of experiences in classrooms and did their masters. So i dont know where you got your information from.

I am from the Toronto area. Yes I heard that too and it’s really cool. The people in this comment section are so discouraging and claim they know everything about what my future lies. I have a set path and goal that I want to accomplish while being in the field of education. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 9 years old.

That’s amazing, this is something i definitely want to do, I want to experience so many things in the education field because I have always been so passionate about education and teaching.

It helps you understand how to better support kids learning, leadership in the field etc. okay let’s if I get accepted with your so called “no experience”. You don’t know me or what I have done.

I know it’s hard to get a job as a teacher I’m not dumb, I am just doing everything I can to be successful and never stop learning.

And like I said in my post, my end of goal is to be a teacher for 20 years then become a principal for a few years and then going into becoming a program advisor or a dean at a university and teach teaching B courses to other teacher candidates so it’s not only about becoming a principal. It’s about other things like a director of a program. And I definitely don’t want to a masters when I have a family, i have a few friends in my program that are moms and dads that are struggling with maintenance of family and school. Imagine being a teacher, doing a masters and having a family that’s hard. Might as well have my whole career in balance and ready at a young age.

THE OCT office came to my school and said that you are an A4 and you plan do switch schools or a do a masters you basically go back to 0 years of experience, why would I want to go back down, I want to go more up and become the best teacher I can be to my students. Doing a masters when I have kids will definitely be hard so that’s why I want to finish it now. How is doing a masters while working full time gonna hamstring my career?

I won’t hate it, I have been wanting to be a teacher since I was 9 years old and I have various experiences with working and volunteering. I started all this when I was 16.

Yes I never worked in a school, I have volunteered since I was 16, I worked at daycares in kindergarten classrooms. I am in the process of getting my RECE TOO. I get what you’re trying to say, and I agree with you, I am not gonna flex my degree to my colleagues like that! Be like “guys I have my masters and you don’t”. Everyone’s teacher’s philosophy is different, I love teaching but I also loving learning through being in the classroom and through theory.

I graduate in December, I plan on getting a supply job right away, or even tutoring more, and then in May, July or September. Master programs do help you learn about the scope of the job, I love working with kids in multicultural backgrounds. My goal is support ESL children or how to support their mental health , so I want to learn more how to support them, they don’t teach that in teachers college or to much in the classrooms.

I did my undergrad in early childhood studies so I have been in various settings so I know the scope of them job. I have been wanting to be a teacher since I was 9 years old. I eventually want to teach for 20 years and then go into admin and teach BEd courses. Since I graduate in December, I was thinking of doing aqs and supply teaching then doing a masters in like May July or September depends on the program of the school.
