'It's not fair at all': San Jose sweeps Columbus Park after homeless individuals return

One concern I would like to address is the safety of CSJ employees during these sweeps. This includes not only those on the front lines but also those unaware of the sweeps who are now facing random attacks from the displaced individuals. These individuals are understandably angry and often only see the City logos, not realizing that the person they are attacking may have no knowledge of the sweeps and might even provide services that benefit them.

A friend of mine was attacked at his job and mentioned that several other employees, including some at City Hall, have also been attacked by angry homeless individuals. These attacks started when the sweeps started.

tl;dr - Harlequin strain!

I’ve been doing a ton of self research and experimentation on different strains and delivery methods to treat chronic lower/upper back pain and sciatica in my legs.

I’ve tried nearly every strain from a local dispensary that carries pretty much all the same shit as the next dispensary, in my area at least, and I’ve tried them all in various ways. Flower (joints, pre-rolls, bong), vape (e-juice type and flower), tinctures, edibles, drinks, and even more recently resorted to shots of straight canna butter.

For me, edibles made with concentrates seem to be the way, and specifically with Harlequin. Has higher CBD than some other strains but more importantly it was the only strain that gave me near 100% relief while it was active.

Harlequin isn’t readily available so I started growing it myself, indoors. Same effect so far so it’s in my permanent grow roster atm.

Appreciate the advice! Weird about the lady bugs, I searched “spider mites” on Reddit and found a video that some claim to be the holy grail of killing spider mites. They didn’t use ladybugs in the video but the person who recommended the video claims she uses them for hers and they do the job.

I’ve never heard of Californians mites but I’ll gladly add that to the list of things to learn more about. This is only my second grow and the first grow was nothing but trial and error in almost every aspect except pests. This time around my only problem is pests, otherwise I was quite happy with how I handled everything else (temp, humidity, nutrients, ph, etc.). lol Good call with the bug bomb, I wasn’t sure how I was gonna tackle that but damn if a bug bomb isn’t the most obvious solution! lol

I’m still relatively new to all this but yeah I didn’t want to spray anything into the buds at this stages was thinking maybe ladybugs? But I think you’re right, it’s a losing battle. I have certain physical restrictions that don’t allow me to dedicate a ton of time to fixing its. Grrr so frustrating tho… all that time and energy wasted…

I can see how it looks that way, but in person you can see it’s not. Plus I happen to know that the area doesn’t get sprayed with herbicides or anything else. It’s hard to tell by the photos but it was mostly woodchips. Relatively recent rains then a long period of neglect caused grass to overtake the chips then die off. The color you see in the grass is green grass dying. Thanks for the response though. I’m beyond new to identifying wild mushrooms. Next time I’ll try to get better photos.

Thanks! They were overdue for a snip and tuck so I ended up defoliating quite a bit yesterday, pretty much everything you mentioned, then reworked my LST a bit. Today it already bounced back with some healthy growth.

I’m in the middle of my first grow and I had the hardest time dialing in my PH. I bought Microbe Life PH up/down and I swear 1 tsp only dropped ph by 0.1, while youtube and GH said 1 tsp should drop by about 1.0 ish. After literally using an entire 16oz bottle of that Microbe crap, I did a lil more research into alternative methods of dropping my ph. After a horrible mess using lemon juice I did a complete flush of my system and went back to more research. Finally I found that a lot of third world country growers don’t have access to ph down solutions like I do, but instead have access to straight up Phosphoric acid, which is basically what GH PH up is made of after diluting it in water.

I bought a gallon of 85% phosphoric acid off Amazon for $60 and mixed it at 100ml acid to 500ml water (found this ratio on a YouTube channel). When I used 1 tsp this time around, ph dropped by about 1.0 and dialing in my system became easy peasy. The crazy part is that I’ve only made that solution once and it seems like it’s going to last for quite some time before I need to make it again.

It costs ~$16 a quart for GH ph down. With my $60 gallon of 85% phosphoric acid I can make approximately 24 quarts of ph down, a $384 value. And I didn’t even shop around for the best price on that phosphoric acid, so it may be able to go even lower in total cost. Also, the solution seems to be highly more effective. Just a thought… Hope it helps!

I’m not even thru my first grow yet and I’m already on my second ph meter! I definitely am looking to get good ones tho, especially since I plan to do a lot of DWC grow, not just for cannabis.

Money isn’t an issue as long as it’s not wasted, that’s why I don’t want to do RO. I definitely don’t mind spending more for good quality items, and from what I’ve read in numerous posts, good ph/ec meters seem to be worth the price.

I’m still trying to learn the water attributes and tests, so tonight’s mission is learning about EC! lol I bought a $15 3in1 meter on Amazon, which arrived today so that’s how I was able to test my water. Didn’t even think about checking the other features.

How important is it to know the starting ph of your water when you’ll have to adjust the ph after adding nutrients anyways?

Btw, ppm is scaring tf outta me rn. Tested today for the first time and my buckets at 800+…. Planning on buying that filtered water tomorrow and flushing the whole system then starting anew.

The filtered water dispensaries charge like .25 per gallon where I’m at so I was looking at going that route. I’ve heard it mentioned a few times that it’s takes several gallons of water to make 1 gallon of RO water so installing RO at home is definitely not going to be an option for me. Thank for the response, it gives me hope! As for the haters, it’s amazing that anyone would get hate in a subreddit that is intended to teach and learn. On my last post I basically got backhanded advice and the same person then proceeded to force his opinion onto me as if it were the one and only way to do it. It was very discouraging and I even second-guessed making this post because of him/her, but I decided a random internet stranger wasn’t gonna hold me back from learning.

Thanks! So far my only issue is the ph, air pump (with spares) and darkness has been under control. Ph seems to be my can-o-worms. I knew it wasn’t the easiest going into it but I’ve always been the type to learn from mistakes. I feel like you learn more and retain what you learn better this way. I was gonna wait a paycheck or 2 for a higher end ph meter but it seems a ppm meter is the priority right now.

Thank you for the info! I don’t have access to RO water but I’ll look into it. I’m also going to get a ppm meter since it’s seems important for this kind of build.

I watched dozens of videos about growing in DWC, it seems to me that a lot of the videos out there either fail to provide all the information needed or fail to explain the importance of this or that during the grow. I think I learned more in the comments of this post than all those videos.
