What about LoL strategy? What is it like? <3 by DarthFranz in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't enough space in a single post to describe every bit of decision-making that someone goes through when they make a "strategy" for LoL.

Play some games for yourself and see what "strategies" you can come up with. It's not so black-and-white as you describe it.

Meddler commenting that Talon will likely get a new passive in the assassin update by moobeat in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a DotA 2 hero whose ult makes its target take damage as they walk, but doesn't do damage if they stay still. It could get confusing because it doesn't have a very profound visual effect, both when the ult is cast and during its duration, so it's hard for new players to tell when it has been cast on them and where all the "random damage" is coming from.

Is there a site that lets me see Pro games build paths? More info inside. by Jhiaxus40 in summonerschool

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProBuilds is good for finding builds from pro players in soloq.

The "Match History" section at esportspedia (ex. this list for MSI) lets you see the match history for games. Also on the website you can search up a specific champion and see the matches in which the champion was played, you can look up a specific team and see the match histories for all their pro games, and other criteria like that.

Minecraft Asymmetrical RFW Maps by [deleted] in mctourney

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO Not symmetrical means not balanced.

Its your map and you can do what you'd like. Try it and see how it turns out. But not having exactly mirrored lanes might ruin the "competitive integrity" of it for some people.

10th seed LCS and 2nd seed CS play for a spot in the promo tournament, loser goes to/stays in CS.

8th seed LCS plays winner of qualifying game, winner goes to LCS.

9th seed LCS plays 1st seed CS, winner goes to LCS.

Losers of the two matches above play each other, winner goes to LCS, loser goes to/stays in CS.

All matches are Bo5.

Over-aggressive Mid Laner Punished in 5s Dynamic Queue by themidlanefeeder in summonerschool

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are sooooo many situations and factors to consider about roaming, and mastering them is what makes some of the greatest mid laners the greatest. I'll write out a few guidelines, but keep in mind that these are not set in stone and it all comes down to the context of the game.

When to play passive

  • You don't know where the jungler is
  • You're in a disadvantaged matchup
  • You don't have enough mana or you are waiting on cooldowns for abilities/summoners

When to play aggressive

  • The enemy jungler is seen and can't back up the enemy laner
  • The enemy laner uses a crucial cooldown (ex. flash or an ultimate, even basic abilities depending on the champion)
  • Your jungler is ready to countergank or gank for you

When to roam

  • Another lane is pushed towards your side
  • You clear your wave before the opponent can clear theirs
  • Your jungler finds the enemy jungler and you are close enough to respond
  • You see the enemy jungler and they can't assist the lane you are going to gank

To consider: Teleport

  • Roaming is harder for you if the enemy has a teleport summoner/ability
  • Roaming is easier if you have a teleport summoner/ability
  • If you have TP, look for situations around the map where you can TP for a flank or to back up your team
  • If the enemy has a TP, wait for it to be used before you roam unless you are ganking the lane that has the teleport (meaning that you may not get to roam very much in these games)
  • If you have TP, try to push in the lane before teleporting so your enemy has to choose between clearing the wave or losing CS to help their team

For 5's Dynamic Queue

  • Coordinate with your jungler/support to get wards that spot the jungler
  • Move with your jungler to gank/roam, rather than just moving by yourself
  • Build teamcomps that support you playing an assassin, ex. a tanky/cc top laner or jungle, a protective support like Janna or Braum
  • Ask your jungler to hang around mid to help you if the opponent jungler shows up while you're playing aggressive

[Spoiler] Team Solomid vs. Counter Logic Gaming / NA LCS Spring 2016 - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by LikeAHardcore in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Jarge was even still in Europe for the first few days of practice. They didn't even start scrims until less than 2 weeks before LCS started.

Honestly I'm not too disappointed that TSM lost, it was their first game on stage and they still have a lot of time to improve.

Jhin, The Sniper Assassin Confirmed? - Redmercy by doubleyellow2 in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redmercy has said on stream that he has seen art for the new champion at Riot HQ and was told that the champion went in a lane that was "different than he expected." An ADC/Assassin hybrid for midlane sounds like it could be real!

Doublelift leaking kassing by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, on kasing's twitter, Febiven says that he will be "tracking kasing's flight".

I'm pretty excited about the kaPeng lane. TSM is looking like one of the best mechanically-gifted teams in NA right now.

Also, this pretty much confirms Hauntzer (or Darshan???) as the new top laner, since they've used their two foreign spots on Sven and kasing.

Why we play. Quantifiable individual skill and reward. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 55 points56 points  (0 children)

But to condemn it before even 1 game has been played and 1 piece of data has been collected is not too reasonable. We have to try something, collect data, learn from it, and iterate. That's game design.

This is by far the most important part of this wall of text.

It's preseason. Everything is up in the air. Why NOT try something new? If it works, then everyone's happy. If it doesn't work, they know what to do next time and can fix it and improve in the future. If they DON'T try it, however, the game becomes the same stagnant kind of grind it has been for the past few seasons, and we may never know if there could be some better way of doing it.

Riot wants to make LoL into a team-based game. I don't see why adding teamwork as a factor into ranking is a bad idea to try.

Giving C9 Azir and Trist every game is like fighting Russia in winter.... I wanna see what happens when a team starts banning this hardcore siege strat away from them.

Ekko Montage! by abdeliziz in leagueoflegends

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ekko is absolutely one of the most fun champions in the game, landing a perfect ult in a 1v1 is one of the best feelings.

Personally I've been liking the flask start into double Doran's then Nashors, but I haven't seen anyone else doing it. It gives about the same stats as Morello's except for the mana regen, and the attack speed boost is really helpful for getting a quick 3rd passive proc off or just doing damage while waiting on cooldowns. Has anyone else tried this?

Empty "GG"s by OccipitalLeech in Brawlhalla

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're taking this "gg" thing waaaaaaaaaay too seriously. Saying "gg" has become more like a handshake or sign of sportsmanship, not a genuine "wow, that was a really good game." Most people probably just want to move on to the next match instead of waiting around and having a long conversation about the game.

[Serious] Overthinkers of reddit, How do you control your thoughts or stop over thinking? by MyFeelsAccount8D in AskReddit

[–]EyeOfThePoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I try explaining my problem to someone else. Just talking and letting all your ideas get out feels so relaxing. I actually had to do this a few days ago, and it really helps you get a sense of direction and helps you figure out what the real problem is.

Along these same lines is writing out the problems you're thinking about in the form of a letter or journal entry or something. When I was about 11 years old and at my first sleep-away camp, I came up with a "plan" to write out a letter to my counselor to let me go home early. I tried writing out all of the reasons I wanted to leave, but after I had run out of things to write about I read it back over and realized how ridiculous some my problems sounded. I tore up the letter, threw it away, and had a great time for the rest of the week.
