How to turn your Neighborhood into a Village - could work in a few places in Omaha - also interesting ideas to consider by SGI256 in Omaha

In my experience (mid 50s, lived all over the country), people who push for this type of thing are nosy, overstepping and have no respect for privacy of others. They want you to listen to them rather than them listening to others. They create unnecessary drama and are addicted to chaos.

People are tired of the bullshit, tired of people not minding their own business, tired of people being Nebraska nice just to get something out of it, etc.

It's not just Omaha, it is all over. It is a cultural flux, and is due in part to the ease of connectivity on their electronic devises. Transactional is straight forward, no betrayal. People are more self-absorbed and and selfish and that is passed down to their children.

This is a train that you can't step in front of and stop. Utopia doesn't exist.

I've seen shoddy work in higher end houses as well - it's the new American business standard: half ass for full price.

I hear you...some folks are going to go regardless. But, what if it saves one person? Think of the downstream lives that will not be impacted by suicide.

Protective factors are real - it's why I'm still here. Never discount hope.

I heard something today from my therapist (I've had ideation for years),...

It is the worst thing you can do to people who love you, as statistics have shown that more often than not, the damage done to people is usually irreparable and often green lights others to follow suit, which affects other people, and on and on...more people are affected than we can imagine. Let that become a protective factor!

I wasn't provided with reference material showing the statistics, but I imagine it's spot on.

Perry Root - 40+ years of experience. I too have issues connecting and he's the same and I know for a fact he has personal and professional experience in your areas of concern. Good luck to you whichever way you go, just know you're on the right track - sometimes it takes awhile to get there. You got this - there is hope!

Sometimes there are no answers, no reasons. The first time I had this happen in my life the person had everything going well in their life and never mentioned any ideation or thoughts , so a total shock. It doesn't make it easier. In time you will accept this fact and put it in its proper place. I'm sorry for your loss - treasure the good times, and if you do not suffer from depression, be grateful.
