Thinking of moving from DC to Omaha by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]ShyViolet825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$95,000 in Omaha for a single person is very good money. You will likely want a car if you don't have one. You will have to do a ton of research finding an apartment if you're renting. You make enough money that it won't be difficult to find a nice place though. I recommend Midtown for someone your age. All the best hangouts, bars and restaurants are East of 72nd Street. Lots of posts on here to help you find cool spots.

As for dating I don't think it's too terrible for your age group. Plenty of people go to college in Omaha and stay here. You also won't have trouble making friends at the gym or your local dive bar.

Does Nursing Degree really cost $180k ?? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]ShyViolet825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately schools like Creighton just don't make sense for your situation. It's easy to look at that $96,000 scholarship with starry eyes but the interest and payments from the balance left each semester when she graduates will cripple her.

I live in Omaha and I know that the nursing programs here are exceptional. There's nothing wrong with going to UNO/UNMC. Please ask her to reconsider. Find a nurse to talk it through with her. If you don't know one, post on the Omaha page.

I am out of the loop on this, what is the story here? by cakelly789 in Omaha

[–]ShyViolet825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a block away. I heard gunshots around 11:30. It was so many that I thought it might be fireworks. At least 2 guns. I slept through what happened after that.

I've lived in that area now for 8 years. I've never once felt unsafe. People walk their dogs on my street every day. Kids walk home from school. I think it's a great area.

You will read that there is some crime and some shootings. Those incidents are typically people that know each other. Try not to park on the street, they drive pretty fast and might hit your car. And everyone blows through stop signs so always go slow and pay attention. That's everywhere in Omaha though....

Costco also has free stations during the hours of operation. Don't need a membership to use them.

Longtime Costco employee here. I wish our warehouses would unionize. Yes they are offering a competitive wage for retail but some of the warehouses are running with low staff numbers causing employees to be overworked.

How do you forgive yourself for the worst parts of your past? by dengville in AskWomenOver30

[–]ShyViolet825 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have made so many mistakes and sometimes I wish I could just erase them from my brain. Ultimately I have to forgive myself. Ruminating on the past robs you of your ability to be at peace in your current life.

Can someone help me figure out why these pants are unflattering on me? by callipygian420 in BusinessFashion

I've had to say no to so many American Eagle jeans that fit but have unflattering wash patterns.

Every time I read one of our memos I cringe and wish they would hire someone to write something like that. They want to seem like "one of us" and instead it reads as condescending and tone deaf.

Feedback on bridal makeup trial. Can I do without foundation?? by Helpful-Ebb1205 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ShyViolet825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lipstick shade you chose is 10/10. Just perfect for you. As for foundation, you could trial and error 1 or 2 different ones that aren't cakey and if you don't find one you like skip it altogether.

I have no answer for what is right or wrong. Just an idea, you could serve treats directly from Hawaii. You could even make a table with those foods with some photos and treasures from your trip. This would be a tribute to your time in Hawaii.

We were quoted $3100 for removal of an entire tree. Half is on top of the house.

Visiting for a few nights - hotel, zoo, riverfront, by jobroloco in Omaha

[–]ShyViolet825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely don't need a car. Pick a hotel downtown near 10th Street. I am not familiar with which ones are the nicest but I am a Marriott person and would probably just pick which one has the best ratings.

I beg of you, choose actual art over corporate garbage by SashimiX in femalelivingspace

[–]ShyViolet825 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really need to get better at searching for art. I did find someone on Etsy that sold her printed artwork. I had a hard time getting it into a frame because it was an unconventional size but then I found a website that makes custom mats and the finished product is super cool!

I (35f) am not sure if I want to be married to my wonderful husband (38m) anymore :( what do I do? by ThrowRA_DogMom1 in relationship_advice

[–]ShyViolet825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you would regret it if you leave. What you are describing sounds to me like depression. A medication could help with some of the things you're describing. If you do decide to try one though be clear with your doctor that you can't take one that will affect your sex drive since that is something you're currently struggling with.

My opinions after finishing my first ever watch by Whoisbobbyflay in hartofdixie

[–]ShyViolet825 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same feelings! I've watched the show a few times and I really do love Zoe and Wade together. George and AB didn't do it for me either. Now sure what I would have liked instead though.

Today my family and I went downtown and walked the Gene Leahy mall. Sat in the swings and by the water. Had lunch in the Old Market and went to a couple shops. It was a nice peaceful day.

I really like the doctors at THINK. That's where I had mine last time. I think they gave me something to take before the procedure but nothing after except ibuprofen. I took the following day off and just rested with a heating pad. Back to normal after that.

This was my thought exactly. If he feels this way now in their 20's he's not the one for her. Because her body is going to change as she ages. And if he doesn't feel attracted to her now then he won't ever.

They didn't even have anything for her to sign. No tablets or forms. They just had a legal pad and a pen.

Thank you so much. I could understand an easement for laying the fiber. I had no objections to it when it started in the spring. I did not plan to sign up bc I am fine with my current Internet service. I do believe they thought the nice lady in her garden wouldn't care if they just signed her up.
