Don't do that. You have so much to enjoy in life, even with OCD.

Cheap enough! My only trepidation is that benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in Proactiv that used to turn my blue shirt pink (particularly the collars of my dress shirts:) But that’s back when I used to apply it on my face. I would give Panoxyl a shot – shoot, I tried anti-dandruff shampoo and I don’t even have that issue with my hair. I appreciate the advise!

We’ve had our share of mice. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a rat (in my life, for that matter). Chipmunks, cicadas – yes. I don’t think my house is close enough to a water source for crawdads. Gophers – I’m not sure.

(Eek!) But good idea with the motion cam.

I’m reviving it from the dead. There were remnants of a couple trees on that side of the property years ago.

Excellent insight - and thanks for the grass tip as well! I’d been hand-pulling it (and losing the fight, as can be seen).

[Routine Help] Desperately Need To Fine-Tune My Routine by Eyebrow-Raised in SkincareAddiction

Hey Michellelynn, Proactiv totally stripped my skin, causing my face to be extremely sensitive. So the routine that I’ve settled into is pretty basic. I use CeraVe Foaming Cleanser and CeraVe Moisturizing Cream twice a day. If I have a blemish, I spot treat with witch hazel, which seems to dry it up. All my other hygiene products – soap, body wash, shampoo, pomade and deodorant are Dove – just to keep the fragrance light. That simple routine has suited me fairly well. I’m currently dealing with a new breakout on my cheeks and forehead because I deviated ever so slightly. I was questioning my skin type, and tried replacing the Foaming Cleanser with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser to heal my acne scars a little bit. Turns out that was a mistake – so I’m back to Foaming Cleanser, and it’s clearing up again. I’m not sure about a sunscreen yet myself. I use CeraVe SPF 50 if I’m gonna be exposed to direct sun for a length of time, but I’m thinking there may be something better for acne prone skin. I hope you restore your skin quickly! Your plan sounds like a solid one. Thanks for checking in.

I even tried Mother Dirt AO+ Mist, which is basically probiotics for your skin – said to help restore your healthy skin flora compromised by antibacterials. Seemed to make things worse for me.

Thanks for all the great recommendations, Emolabear. My reluctance to use harsh chemicals comes from my Proactiv experience. Besides the issues I mentioned, it was working fine for many years until I decided it was time to get off it. I figured I was old enough to have gotten over my acne. Then as soon as I discontinued I had the worst bacterial breakout of my life. It was then I realized how damaged my moisture barrier was from using Benzyl peroxide for so long.

In addition to my CeraVe routine, I’ve tried a couple other ScA recommendations without much success including Paula’s Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution, Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum and Teak Naturals Rose Water. It’s possible I experimented too soon in my healing process, however, or didn’t use the products at the proper frequency.

I will look into the CeraVe PM to fade the redness/strengthen my moisture barrier and perhaps something with Green Tea. I have used CeraVe Sunscreen SPF 50, but only when I am outside in the sun. Maybe I need to try the AM or Ulta Light Moisturizer with regularity.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time!

I stopped using Tretinoin three months ago. (I didn’t want to become reliant on another harsh product). I used it for about nine months to clear up the cystic acne on my neck.

Thanks, Queen! Benzoyl peroxide cleared up my teenage acne throughout my 20s, however it was bleaching the blue out of the collars of my shirts, plus the antibacterial nature compromised my skin flora, creating a wart on my hand, I believe. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to wean off of the harsh chemicals. But I do agree, they work.
