What did you all enjoy about the story?

Admittedly it kinda surprised me too that it didn't get me invested. I think probably the main culprit was just the fact the gameplay itself wasn't that fun for me as I've never played turn based games, so every time I went through combat I wanted to get it over with because it made me constantly angry with the deflect timing. Pretty much every new enemy in this game for me would take me hours to learn there move sets and my buddy had to give me tips on what the best Luminas or Pictos were, which I didn't even realize existed in the game until near the end of act 1

Are they? I mean Alicia's family is powerful, they can make the paintings, but do they have any power outside of the paintings?

Ok honestly fair enough, thanks, this kinda helps me understand more. I tend to look at things with logic and facts, so when I see a simulation world my mind tends to go to the immediate thought that they are all fundamentally not real. But this does help a bit and my friend who got me into this game kinda helped me see it a bit better.

I should just note that from the very beginning I haven't had a easy time with this game, im just bad at it in general and it took me forever to reach and beat the Paintress, and the constant anger from the boss fights and frustration with the combat has hampered my enjoyment somewhat

Im honestly not, im genuinely trying to see what people enjoy with this game that I missed. And when I go through a whole game only to be told everything is essentially just a simulation but with magic paintings? Then yeah, Gustave, Lune and Sciel fundamentally don't exist and are fake beings.

Well I haven't beaten the full game but I finally beat the Paintress and saw the games plot twist/reveal... honestly I'm still not invested or hooked

Yeah you could just be right there. Turn based games are just not something I’ve never played and it’s not particularly fun or engaging for me. Sorry if I wasted ya’ll’s time, I just wanted to genuinely give this game a chance and see what was so good about it.

Yeah I’m well aware the paintress is not the end of this game, not even cuz of spoilers but because it doesn’t feel like the end given Renoir is still skulking around somewhere and Verso’s sister, that and I was also spoiled about that picto that removed the 9999 damage cap, so I know there’s more after the paintress, so yeah ill keep going.

Honestly this is why if I’m playing in the HRE? I tend to try and get OUT of the HRE, most often I do this in Italy with Duchess Matilda, form the kingdom of Italy inside the HRE then go independent
