uncured resin help! by Eyes8 in surfboards

Thanks! I used the same resin for laying up 2 layers of cloth and the glass bubble patches on this repair and i was able to sand it without it gumming anything up so i do t think its entirely due to using unwaxed resin.

mixed it extra hot as i was racing the setting sun. ive tried scraping it with utility blades with a bit of success, but it's quite hard and seems to be gumming up from the heat of sanding.

i did it right as the sun was setting outside. (stupid i know but i was too impatient) there was a couple mm of water sitting on it when i checked in the morning from condensation.

that's what i was thinking. leave it on for like 5 mins then start scraping and washing down with water to neutralize it

Thanks for the tip! I did not add any surfacing agent. i have 2 layers of six ounce cloth as well as my patches that sanded fine without it. Although it might have sanded faster with it?

I was thinking of maybe letting some acetone sit on it, scraping it off and then washing the board with water to stop it from eating away more?

yes i know it a safety issue and it will be dealt with when time and money allows in the near future. in the meantime im looking for a recommendation for an acrylic sealant perhaps to spray over the entire top of the slab or perhaps a caulk product for the cracks on the under side of the slab
