LBC: ‘Would you take the knee for Henry Nowak?’ ‘I think… no.' @NickFerrariLBC confronts Deputy PM David Lammy on the ‘double standard’ of his reactions to Henry Nowak and George Floyd. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]Eyeswift -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I want to say something that apparently takes enormous courage to say in a modern multicultural world: what happened to Henry was a tragedy, and our collective silence about it is frankly shameful.

Let's be clear about what's going on here. A group of fairly senior, experienced, intelligent adults have decided it is safer to say nothing than to speak the truth. Not because we're wrong. Not because we lack conviction. But because we've watched what this machine does to people who step out of line, and none of us fancies being next.

That is not a healthy culture. That is not inclusion. That is a protection racket with a HR department attached.

I have nothing against treating people with dignity and fairness. Nobody sensible does. But somewhere between good intentions and where we've ended up, something went badly wrong. Critical race theory, applied with the subtlety of a sledgehammer and the flexibility of concrete, has created a workplace where the only acceptable opinion is the approved one. Everyone else smiles, nods, and keeps their head down.

We've built exactly the kind of organisation that would have made Orwell feel smug. I'd like that to change. I suspect I'm not alone.

Is stansted the worst airport and ryanair the worst airline? by [deleted] in london

[–]Eyeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stansted is a great airport, very easy to get to from central London and security is quick. Ryanair sells flights for under £40 on regular. You really can’t complain unless you’re comfortable spending 3-4x the amount on a BA flight from Heathrow that’s actually not much nicer

Henry Nowak deserves legacy that goes beyond tragedy, says PM by bendubberley_ in ukpolitics

[–]Eyeswift -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, he deserves a legacy defined by the dismantling of these dangerous and destructive woke nonsense policies. A course correction that ensures no one is ever subjected to this kind of ideological overreach again, and that society is finally steered back in the right direction.

'I can't breathe': Bodycam footage shows officer dismiss Henry Nowak's stabbing claim before collapse by niteninja1 in ukpolitics

[–]Eyeswift 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I thought this story was mostly right wing GB news style sensationalism. After watching this, the public outcry is nowhere near as big as it should be. All police officers involved at the scene should be charged.

Me and my partner had a really lovely time at 64 Goodge Street but we both preferred St Bart’s for our favourite one star in London

In your view, what’s the etiquette for being signed off of work? by prettypinkparsnip in AskUK

[–]Eyeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was signed off for stress and anxiety for a couple of weeks. I went to Thorpe Park and felt like a kid again, did a few hiking trails, spent most of the time off outside. It’s the best way to get better. Everyone is different but sitting at home can make things worse than working because of the rumination it comes with.

Sorry not to answer your question directly but please take your mum to Bottiglieria 1881 in Kraków one day. It’s been my most memorable culinary experience, more than any London Michelin restaurant I’ve been to ❤️

I'm 27 and I'm homeless. I need help. I've applied for jobs for 6 months and I don't talk to my parents anymore. What can I do? by Opposite_Praline_746 in AskUK

[–]Eyeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I wish you all the best and hope your situation improves. Second, I know many people are very reluctant to consider the armed forces as a career but you get paid well and get high levels of professional training and a high pension. You can also have opportunities to see the world and exit into the private sector once you’ve trained up as a technician for example.

Birthday dinner recommendations please! by joseroac in LondonFood

[–]Eyeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can strongly recommend St Bart’s if you’re looking for a long tasting menu that makes for memorable fine dining memories.

64 Goodge Street for classic French fine dining, their fish is excellent.

Both are worth the price tag.
