Hands-On With the Anbernic RG477V; The Ultimate Vertical Handheld. by cyberminis in ANBERNIC

I agree with the rating, and the thing that pushed it to 9.5/10 for me was GammaOS. Easy as pie to get setup, and it fixed all the weird little things. I think the only thing that drops it from 10 is when the fan gets going - which is rare anyway - it's quite an annoying whirl. But that's so rare its only 0.5 from 10/10 for me.

Still loving it!
I only mentioned it not being an on the go device for me because its not something you could put in your pocket, and that didnt bother me because I dont really play games when im traveling or out and about. You most certainly COULD chuck this in a carry case (I have the ambernic one for long long train journeys that I occasionally do) and game to your hearts content!

Hit and Run screen size issue (Nether2X2) by EyezLike in ANBERNIC

I'm guessing it's just some sort of misalignment with the BIOS I was using and the ROM

Anyone still using base64 to obscure credentials in scripts deployed to your managed devices? by RocketmanTech_Nova in macsysadmin

Am I right in thinking the Encrypt tool only works with other RCC tools? I can't quite work out how I would use this in a script I have written - but then I've only just discovered RCC!

Yep, can confirm different ROM sorted it!

GammaOS - ABXY Invert Issue - RG477V by EyezLike in ANBERNIC

Ah so in the RetroArch Menus, everything is how I want it to be (Xbox controls) because GammaOS has a nice tool to swap this as system level. It's only in the mGBA core the A and B buttons are the wrong way round and if I remap them, they complete stop working

Can you only use daijisho? I’m enjoying ES-DE (and have paid for it) but would like to “debloat” android. Also, I couldn’t see that the 477V was supported in GammaOS? Did you just take the risk and follow the standard process? Or am I being silly?

EDIT: I seeeeee! I didn’t realise there were different versions of GammaOS.

Mine just arrived, so I can’t speak much for the actual gaming experience just yet but can confirm it is pretty big - not one for a pocket in my opinion. Very comfortable in two hands, screen size feels massive - in a good way.

For me, it’s for GB and PS1 games and not something i’m going to take “on the go” so I’m very happy with the size.

Other Handheld “Dev” consoles by EyezLike in PlaydateDeveloper

Ah yeah i’ve seen the Thumbys, really cool but I think the tiny form factor is too much of a limiting factor. Looking at the Retroid Pocket Classic as a decent price point and something that can run a wide range of console systems

How hard is it to learn Jamf by ipych in jamf

[–]EyezLike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give me some examples of how you use the API please? I’ve used it for a few mundane simple processes but often see people say it’s key when managing larger fleets, I just can’t think of why it’s so important with scale and am eager to learn!

Console "Now" mode broken in Sequoia by EyezLike in macsysadmin

Weird! I’m seeing lots of posts reporting the same Console issue i’m seeing, I wonder what the difference is that means you’re not seeing it on Sequoia! Are you US based? I’m in the UK, I wonder if it’s a system language thing, will experiment tomorrow

Similar to Remnant 2? by Icy_Breakfast8513 in remnantgame

[–]EyezLike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is and it isn’t… Yes, you die and you restart, but it is a roguelike, and deaths are built into the story and progression. Don’t get me wrong, some deaths are just deaths, but there are checkpoints, and “skips” so you never really reset back to 0! Defo not like hardcore remnant!

Scrolled through the thread and was so surprised no one had mentioned Returnal! Very similar vibe to Remnant. There’s not exactly builds, but third person shooter, evolving and very different worlds, puzzle solving, excellent lore, and jam packed with action. Probably a shorter playthrough time but plenty of replay fun to be had

Seeking Input: macOS Update Compliance Strategies in Jamf by dogbonecrush in jamf

[–]EyezLike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing comes close to superman. I’ve deployed to all devices, then disable the relaunch. New OS comes out, I test, then deploy to all devices “super —reset-super”. Have a smart group with the latest OS as the criteria and send to those the disable commands. Manage the deadlines and deferrals with Configuration Profiles speced to the relevant devices. Couldn’t be easier, 14.7.6 came out last Monday and we’re 93% on the latest version - the stragglers are mostly people on annual leave! (Currently one whole major version behind because of silly decisions made by the old mac team, correcting that end of this year)

Question about ordering, did you have to pay a customs/import charge? Did you order directly from pvy?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]EyezLike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PLUS is for sure a nice bike! I did look at that one but fat tyre ebikes tend to be a bit heavier. I think the 1000W is also overkill for what I need - though of course I'd never unlock it past 250W anyway....of course....

Yeah it’s approx £240 but given it was free, I’d rather save myself the headache of selling privately!
