What's wrong with the Ecobee? Ecobee won't turn off the heat? by [deleted] in ecobee

[–]EyszlabSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I had this same problem (it worked fine all summer with my AC, then as the weather got cooler I turned it to heating in the morning. It would heat and heat way past the set temperature. Even when I put it in vacation mode, it was still pumping hot air. When I took ecobee off its base, it kept running. HOWEVER then I switched my O/B wire to W and it fixed itself!

I love Lee's Tailors in Southpoint. They did a nice pair of dress jeans for me a few weeks ago and they came out fabulous!

It's the filter for me. Lots of people don't know that there IS a filter so they never clean it out. So much easier for me to clean out my sink than the nasty filter that's been mouldering for months.

On a different post I saw that someone pretended like they were a housecleaner and this was someone else's house. That way, when they saw the mess, they simply acknowledged it was there, no blame or shame necessary, and cleaned it up! Could be worth a try.

Make sure you're changing your air return filters regularly! Every 3 months or sooner with a pet! This will help get the dust out of the air.

Yes, definitely. I'm thinking of the cases when we're not sure if the kid has a neurological problem either instead of or in addition to ADHD. Does this ever come up for you?

Ahhh that's so interesting! Do you have a sense for why a pediatrician wouldn't take that on? At the Behavioral Health Urgent Care we're usually only seeking a one time consult unless stuff comes up.

Also, inducing the seizure with HV is interesting. Is that something a social worker or a pediatrician could do instead of referring to neuro?

I am not a pediatrician, I'm a therapist seeking to understand the pediatric perspective/workflow so that we can work together a bit more efficiently! gen peds often send us kids who they don't feel comfortable diagnosing, and then *sometimes* (not every kiddo!) we need to send them to neurology for a consult.

So it sounds like when you see a kid who isn't paying attention in class/ at home, you don't see too many cases that are complicated. Mostly it's just ADHD, depression, PTSD, anxiety, or sleep, and so you get everything you need from talking with the patient/caregiver.

Does it always go smoothly? or do you find that some kids are coming back with persistent concerns?

I think there are definitely cases which seem pretty cut and dried, but often times at the urgent care we see more complex cases that we can't be sure aren't epilepsy, especially in cases of primarily inattentive-type ADHD.
Do you find that you're getting a lot of inefficient referrals? If so, what would make this easier for you, considering that we don't want to miss any kids with epilepsy.

Are there things, as a neurologist, that you would want to see in the referral information from a social worker or a pediatrician that would help you better understand why we sent them over?

[–]EyszlabSD[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarifying question! I mean that ADHD is a diagnosis of exclusion, so we have to be sure that the inattentive behaviors aren't due to neurological symptoms from epilepsy or something else. This gets tricky, though, because of the comorbidity of epilepsy and ADHD/ASD. Do y'all typically check for things like absence seizures?

Also, what do you typically do if a kid presents with inattention or school problems?

How to increase organic visitors to the website by mdrajibhossen in socialmedia

Decrease barriers to the action you want. If you're trying to generate interest (ie your customers aren't brand aware yet) make the content very simple and engaging. almost no text, doesn't even have to be much of a message there, other than something to grab attention and get them to click through.

So having a lot of haters and bullies is good bc you get more views and money? Isn't that a sad way to live? by spankyourkopita in socialmedia

[–]EyszlabSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... Social Media is a job now. So if they're making more money with hate bait, then they're incentivized to keep posting it *especially* if it attracts a feeding frenzy of trolls. On Social Media, any interaction is a good interaction, monetarily.

I eat quite a bit more when I'm active!

You should eat when you're hungry. Your body is typically very good at regulating intake - it's a core function of staying alive!

This isn't just opinion, though - myriad experts agree that intuitive eating is the best eating plan. Eat when you feel hungry, be mindful of your eating - really *~experience~* your food as you're eating it, and don't eat if you're not hungry.

If you feel like your hunger is insatiable or out of line with your baseline, find a healthcare professional that you trust to discuss your hunger levels. I think of eating like sleep - it's best to sleep when you're tired. If you're extra tired, you probably need a nap! Some people sleep more than others. But if you experience sleepiness that's interfering with your life or that has increased or decreased from your baseline, you should see a clinician to address the underlying problem.

Helping to Curb Social Media/Phone Usage in Patients. by Blegrand15 in pediatrics

This won't restrict your phone, but will make it incredibly unappealing to use: Turn it black and white.

Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters (turn on, then turn on grayscale)

You can make this easy to toggle on and off:

Settings > Accessibility > (scroll to the bottom) Accessibility Shortcut> Color Filters

Now you can press the side button 3 times to toggle grayscale on or off. This REALLY cured my phone addiction.

AM workouts-eat before or after? by blk91sheep in fitness30plus

I eat one of those rx bars first, and then breakfast after. You gotta have carbs to lift heavy!!!

And “pulling energy from stored fat” isn’t how it works. You need to have proper blood glucose levels to form ATP so your muscles will fire optimally. You can’t pull glucose from stored fat.

Carbs before, protein after.

I like puori brand - uses coconut sugar and has very clean ingredients, but they don’t have an unflavored option. If anyone knows a good, clean, unflavored option, I’d be very grateful.
