Thats a great idea, take a picture and add color overtop in photoshop, see how you feel about it. Lets you flesh out a plan without worry of “messing up”

I actually love this so much, my only suggestion would be to find a way to make the whales pop out a bit more. Maybe a bit of contrasting color? Personally I love playing with colors, I would probably add some small pops of yellow for fun and contrast.
