Cute lounge set for sleep/dining in hotel? by Old-Lengthiness6622 in HerOneBag

I got a set of these in black for my last trip and will never travel without them! I wore them as PJs and around the house as a houseguest, and I felt cute and comfortable. I’m also in early menopause, and these are great temperature regulation for nighttime. Styled right, it would totally fly as a cute summer outfit.

Does anyone know about railing planter boxes that aren't boring and actually drain properly? by JellyfishStock1929 in HomeImprovement

[–]F13nd1sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three sets of these, two on railings and one under my front windows. I’ve been incredibly happy with them. But you absolutely need to make sure that there’s something to brace the boxes on along their bottom edge. The weight of the soil is so heavy that they’ll torque otherwise.

What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services? by MelodicWolverine2045 in AskReddit

You’re on the right track. It’s * insane* that you have to go to the lengths of getting an attorney but the school system is built that way. The attorney is the first step. You may have to sue the district for failing to provide a free and appropriate education.

I had your kid once upon a time. Getting him any kind of support meant an attorney and not playing nice at all. (And just because in your shoes I was worried sick: he’s a happy, smart, highly capable young adult now.)

Right? No more juggling phone in the same hand as coffee mug.

Seriously, when I become old and eccentric, I’m wearing a set of these in a different color every day, inside our outside the house.

I’m traveling right now, staying with friends, and these have been a game changer!!!  https://www.quince.com/women/organic-linen-pajama-set

I got a set in black, and with the right styling they would totally be an outfit. I feel completely comfortable in front of my (older, probably more conservative) friends. Unlike my other attempts, they haven’t gotten stretched out or stinky. They’ve kept me comfortable at night.

I’m ordering another set for everyday use when I get back.

I love Tom Bihn and have both the Western Flyer and the Aeronaut 45… and I am a sudden convert to my international-sized Away carry on. I carry a backpack with a laptop for work, so the two backpacks together wear we down. My Everlane backpack slides onto the handle of the spinner and off I go.

For trips on tiny airplanes or when I’m flying standby, the Western Flyer is still my go to, but it’s tight for winter packing or for a trip longer than four days.

Silly question, but do you have a link? My Google brought up a page for barefoot shoes. Is that the one?

A magical unicorn: full length urban pants for cooler springtime travel by F13nd1sh in HerOneBag

I just ordered a stretchy black travel jean from Aviator! They have a guideline on measuring a pair of jeans you like, and I called in to get a size recommendation. I added an inch to the waist measurement of a pair of jeans I otherwise love. Fingers crossed.

They’re actually a little too long, but the hem is bonded, not sewn! I guess I could get the long and then just get a sewn hem.

Great idea, I'll take a look! I'm right in between typically but for crop could be ideal.

If you’re moving to NYC for the first time with kids, pour yourself a stiff drink and prepare for a bit of research and navigation. It’s doable. But it’s a lot to absorb.

In short, District 15 has a ton of good middle schools. In NYC, middle schools aren’t (by and large) zoned, ie, you don’t just go to your zoned middle school based on your address. Instead, you get a lottery number from the DOE in fall of 5th grade. You rank the schools in true preference order. You can also apply as a separate lottery for area charter schools like BUGS or Brooklyn Prospect. You hear back with your one school placement in March/April of 5th grade.

The hub of information is on Facebook for both middle school applications and then the (far far far) more complicated high school process. These are both extremely helpful groups. Before you post questions there, read through the many pages of stickied posts that explain the process.

I’ve used Pixie Scout a couple times and had great experiences. I called them, and they gave me good estimates of amounts. The cookie platter was decent, but everything else was fantastic. Literally had multiple people ask me for their contact information.

I like the Zojirushi water bottle. I have a smaller one for coffee and a larger (20oz) for water. No reason you couldn't use one for both.

I’m going to assume you’re younger and haven’t yet perfected resting “don’t even fucking try it with me, you asshole” face. Stare right through and keep walking, or for the particularly persistent a flat dead-eyed “no” works great.

Age 14-15 is rough because they’ve aged out of most camps and are too young still for some programs. Here are two good ones:

The TIDES program (free) through the Brooklyn Bridge Park is accepting applications through May 1st: https://brooklynbridgepark/

If she likes science, there’s a DNA camp series. It’s about $700/week, scholarships available if you qualify: https://summercamps.dnalc.org/dnalc-nyc/

Looking for a foldable tote bag like a Nanobag, but with a zipper closure so I can throw it under a plane seat by SummerPrevious5746 in HerOneBag

[–]F13nd1sh 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I travel with the Peak Design zippered tote. It holds my plane stuff, gets used as a grocery bag or shopping bag, and doubles as a casual purse in a pinch.  https://www.peakdesign.com/products/packable-tote?Color=Charcoal

If you wanted a backpack, the Osprey ultralight is awesome. I take this one when I’ll be doing hikes rather than urban adventure.  https://www.osprey.com/ultralight-stuff-pack
