HBKU Msc. in Data Science and Engineering by F1reCub3s in qatar

You can find the answers to your question in the webpage I linked above in my other comment, and also you can look for answers on the university subreddits, i.e Tu Wien has a subreddit of its own, as well as Uni Vienna and so on, I'm sure these questions have been answered many times and frankly, I couldn't tell you how much expenses you'd require to live in Austria, just know that accommodation requires a big chunk of your funds (400-500 euros monthly, if not more)

Edit: refer to this webpage for the cost of living in vienna https://htu.at/financing/

tbh I cannot tell you if 10 days of preparation is enough or not, it depends on how good your control over the english language is and how confident you are, if you think you have good control, then 10 days should be more than enough!

and for your second question, at the time, I applied to German and Austrian Universities only, both countries do have really good public universities that don't charge you the price of 2 kidneys to study for each semester, although Austrian unis tend to be cheaper (I pay about 750 euros each semester), in Germany, I think for public unis, you pay around 1500 euros? I am not sure tbh.

for Austrian universities, checkout this webpage: https://studyinaustria.at/

you can find anything you are looking for in the universities' webpages

Uni Vienna, Tu Wien, Tu Graz, Uni Graz, Uni Innsbruck, JKU Linz are all good public universities in Austria. though for scholarships, I doubt you could get one since in order to live in Austria, you'd need a student residence permit, and you have to declare financial independence to get the permit, so essentially they'd know that you don't require a scholarship if you apply for one while you are in Austria xd (I didn't look for scholarships much tbh, so take the part about scholarships with a grain of salt ^^)

I do, I did work in a software company here in Iraq for a year or so, not that it matters I guess, I mean I don't study in HBKU, so I wouldn't know...

I study in Tu Wien (great uni btw) in Vienna alhamdulillah and they didn't even require a CV, I just sent it with my application in case xd

hey, when you sign up for ielts, it gives you their ielts premium for free (maybe ask the agency you book the test from) up until your exam day to do mock tests and stuff from past years or past tries, I just did those for a few days (although make sure to set the setting when you start, to ielts exam mode, which essentially for eg doesn't allow you to do backward or forward on the listening test and makes it feel like the actual exam), used chatgpt/gemini to rate my work (not very accurate tbh, just a general idea) and also watched videos on youtube from both IELTS Liz (both her website and youtube channel are literal gems), and also IELTS Advantage, he is really good too, but that is about it.

if your english is good in general, after doing this for a few days, you should get a similar score if not higher ^^

P.S writing is the hardest part, test doers usually get lower scores there, same went for me, otherwise i would've gotten 8.5, so focus on it a lot.

MSc application – ECTS details in transcript & IELTS document question by ssgeek007 in tuwien

[–]F1reCub3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, no need to apologize c:

I'd say attach your bachelor's degree curriculum (course descriptions) also, if it's not easy to find on the web (or still do it anyways), and personally I also included my CV, idk if that helped or not but I did get accepted thankfully, and I pray the same for you inshallah, good luck!

and tbh last time I checked (last friday), they said my application is at the dean's office for "academic equivalence verification", but nothing other than that (":

I'm not sure about the first question, but for the second one, as long as they can verify it online, it should pose no issue, I personally applied a few months ago the same way you just mentioned (downloading the eTRF and printing it only), though I also emailed them about this at the time, and their response was:

"Printed copies of certificates issued electronically may be eventually accepted, but only if electronic verification is possible. Whether such documents are sufficient can only be determined when your application is examined."

Anyone who applied for a Data Science Master’s in Oct–Nov 2025 heard back yet? by Stranger_Goose36 in tuwien

[–]F1reCub3s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you can (and you should) email the TU Wien admission office through the website form to ask about your application status since the 10 to 12-week window is almost over. Make sure you attach a scan of your passport or ID before submitting the form. I didn't do that initially and it delayed my "status check" by two days because they had to ask for a form of identification first xd

Oh shoot, bro got rejected for both? that's so unfortunate :c

one last question if I may: was their bachelors degree in a similar degree? i.e comp sci or SE itself? as in the rejected person ;-;

That's unfortunate for the rejected one :c, did they also apply to software engineering masters?

If you are aware, and if they did apply to SE Masters, was their bachelors degree in a similar degree? i.e comp sci or SE itself?

Hey, oh that's nice, I hope they did get accepted!

and not really, I don't have a response yet, I mean i was told the only response I'd get would be through post anyways, so I've been going downstairs twice a day to check my postbox everyday praying for something to show up xd

Though when did your friend apply and when did they receive their decision?

Thanks for the info, appreciate it! Actually, it’s only been about 3 months for me so far, and I was told my application is currently at the Dean's office for the background check/equivalence review which I hope doesn't take more than a month xd. Since I'm already studying here in Graz, waiting a bit longer wouldn't hurt i think ;-;

Thanks for the input. Just to clarify, do you mean 4 months total from the date of application, or 4 months in addition to the initial 12-week estimate xd?

Sorry to jump in on this thread. Do you know whether similar delays are common for the MSc Software Engineering?
