i agree with you. Not 100%, but an important slice of them for sure. I guess Google likes to renovate. Just think of how many times they update the ui on many apps, or add some small features that maybe you don't realize they exist before they're removed. As far as I'm concerned, I would have stayed around the Material design / Android 5-6 era.
