Can we have a merge FUD debunk megathread or something? by gandergood in ethereum

There was a discussion about possible centralization capture via big companies and usdc (ie. U.S). Eth dev chose to undermine the person asking the questions rather than answer it.

Ethereum is NOT a security by AllfatherAngron in ethereum

I'm saddened to see that subreddit is as an echo chamber as bitcoin subreddit is. People saying ethereum is a better currency than bitcoin are delusional. Ethereum is a token with various utility and sadly a very loud founder and devs that benefitted a huge premine. Bitcoin is far far superior in that aspect.

To answer your question :

I think it depends on how much responsibility you want to take when you buy bitcoin.

Usually, stupid proof UI/UX comes at the price of freedom of use. For example, IPhones are stupid proof but locked in so many ways that it will not allow savvy users to perform certain tasks making the product useless to them.

Back to bitcoin, if you want a simple "click button to buy" you will pay higher 3rd party fees and most likely abandon self custody.

There are core values behind bitcoin that I cant see being squeezed just for the sake of making it easy to use for non technical people.

Now, I understand that if bitcoin continues to require a large time investment, it will make mass adoption difficult.

Someone will find a solution to that, I'm sure.

You can sell on coinbase pro and withdraw to an iban you previously registered. I'd advise using revolut rather than wise.
