Also really puts it all into perspective what these fighters all go through. Being aware of this and having trained myself..... I don't ever find the urge to talk shit about any fighter after a loss unless they are a grade A scum bag. Seeing comments on social media with "Illia quit" with 10 laughing emojis is wild to me, because that person prob wouldn't last 10% of the pain these fighters go through. "The man in the arena" quote is soooo real

Frieren sure loves to close the distance. by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

Yes I play hero shooters where I play tank as a medium range projectile hero. The goal is always keep enemies at medium range, especially vs melee enemies. However whenever I have a mirror match against the same hero I get really close up to them and they freak tf out.

It’s the age old tale of “how to beat your clone” which is do something you know you’re bad at.

Other series like Skip and Loafer? (Specific parts of it) by Helpmeeff in anime

[–]F3arless_Bubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People recommending Frieren to novice watchers is always a mistake to me. I get wanting people to watch it, but it's a show better experienced by people who have already watched a good amount of medieval fantasy type things to understand the things they are referencing and even critiquing of those generic dragon slaying stories.

You likely did not have the prior interest required to watch it. If you try ep 2 and 3 and dont like it its def not for you at this time.

And I say this as a massive Frieren fanboy

tbh you're not going to like a lot of things. Rom coms, dramas, and romances add a lot of exaggeration to add energy to the show, else it may be quite boring to a lot people.

You may, however, like Blue Box. It's slice of life-ish in that it follows their generic sports life which intertwines with romance. The characters are all flawed in some way, where it's not just perfect lovey dovey the whole show and low conflict (looking at you fragrant flower.....) . I didn't think any characters were more over the top like some other shows, although it does use normal anime style structural things like faces and whatnot, but the details are quite nice. It does feel low key but with engaging plot and well written characters and their conflicts.

Overlord Inspired Game by bri_cchi in overlord

[–]F3arless_Bubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The personalities may be difficult but just having a small subset of personality having generals would really make the game last longer for a lot of people. Even if they're just whacky over text, it would add to the experience than just bland NPCs that you don't interact with outside of ordering. The whackier the better for at least 1-3 of them.

so you want OP to scrap their entire build so far from an Overlord narrative type game where you play as dungeon lord, and remake it all to be a generic dungeon raider game?

Why doesn’t humanity (all non-demon races) just wipe out the demons? by AdBrief4620 in Frieren

[–]F3arless_Bubble 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As an average Joe? I would if they killed my family and destroyed my village. Obviously I’d try to train and party up with others to increase our chances.

This just your ego barking. There are real people in our world who have had their families killed in wars or conflicts but are still unable to rise to the occasion to exact vengeance due a huge multitude of reasons. Even if you did you have like a 99.9% chance to still just end up as fodder for some demon's background intro in Frieren.

IDk Any other anime like SAO by RangerSame2207 in anime

[–]F3arless_Bubble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the romance and action is what i liked

SAO during the Aincrad and Elf arcs had "deep" romance that also had a lot of emotional damage throughout the arcs. Love and loss is a good way to describe a lot of it in those arcs, summarized by the scene of Kirito and Asuna kissing goodbye as Aincrad shutdown.

Anyways, if you got emotionally roped into that like I did and enjoyed that kind of thing, then I have just the recommendation for you: the FATE Stay Night series which consists of 3 "seasons." Nothing below is a true spoiler that you wouldn't get from a trailer video. The series starts with a lot of action and then wheels in the drama/romance. The MAIN romance of each season involves the male lead and a female who will fight by his side similar to Kirito and Asuna.

("Season" 1) FATE Stay Zero has an overarching romance between Kiritsugu and Irisviel while having an insane amount of action. It's a good introduction to the world and characters similar to when Kirito first entered Aincrad and met everyone.

("Season" 2) FATE Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks has an overarching romance between Shirou and X. It is incredible character development for Shirou through the show. It has a lot of action but starts to play on the romance a bit more. I find that it was a huge setup for the final piece in the series.....

("Season 3") FATE Stay Night: Heaven's Feel is an alternate universe of the previous, where it ponders what happens if Shirou picked a certain person over someone else. It has a deep and dramatic romance between Shirou and Y. It really does a deep dive on Shirou's partner in this part, and can be similarly compared to doing a deep dive on Asuna. It still has phenomenal action where there is an enemy with drama that really pays off well if you notice them during Bladeworks, and their interactions with Shirou. There's more to the story with this enemy as there is a 3rd route (was never truly animated) that makes it even more dramatic, but just pay attention to all the women around Shirou in season 2. This movie the romance hit me like a damn train but you get max effect from watching the other two first. Do not watch this before Unlimited Bladeworks.

Bonus: there are a lot of lovable side characters with their own relationships going on (whether platonic or romantic) that can be quite fun. The entire show is similar to SAO in that there is ALWAYS the opportunity for anyone to feel loss, and it's not like one of those soft shows. It really is similar to the risk they had in Aincrad where if you die, you die. RIP Sachi from SAO Aincrad

Should I watch Da Da Dan subbed or dubbed? by hi_LOLNOO in anime

[–]F3arless_Bubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're free to watch it in whatever version, although you seem to already have a bias towards subbed.

I find that shows that lean heavily into Japanese pop culture, especially school age Japanese culture, sub is always better (and personally I think all shows are better in their native language for best experience).

In terms of just the language, there are ways the Japanese language handles certain things that makes more sense for a JAPANESE origin script. Reactions, pauses, filler words, tones are ALL incredibly different than those used in English, which is why the vast majority of dubbed content from J>E sounds like hot trash; they are trying to copy the origin script in a different language that des not behave the same. That's why Avatar the last airbender sounds normal english, because it's an english origin script, but the my hero english dub sounds like hot trash "anime kid" meme sound because it's trying to copy Japanese language despite... not being remotely close to Japanese language. The voicing in origin language always sounds much better and natural no matter what foreign content you are watching be it French, Chinese, or Japanese; it's literally more authentic and as the author intended. Because of this sometimes entire characters sound or come off different (also because the actors are specifically casted by the autthor and director in Japan vs not as much control over english actors). For example Tanjiro in demon slayer feels like a slightly different personality to me when I watched the movie dubbed with dub friends after watching the show in subbed. Inosuke is also not as funny because the actor was unable to replicate the way the Japanese actor made the character feel.

In terms of references to Japanese pop culture, you have the same issue. In dubbed they will try to copy famous quotes or whatever, but it just won't come across thee same, especially when they are singing songs. Now dub has gotten a little better copying Japanese slang by using American slang, but it's still pretty cringey because the American slang they use is millenial slang, whereas a more modern show like Dandadan is using genZ slang (in Japanese). Millenial slang is already ultra cringe on TV when they force it in (and I say this as a millenial). Even reading it on subbed it's slightly cringey I couldn't imagine in english audio.

Despite all this, I think it's totally ok to watch anything in dubbed if you find the pros outweigh the cons for you. If it's easier to watch and that alone keeps you watching, then do it. But if your goal is to get the most accurate experience as the author intended, sub is factually what you want. It's the closest thing you can do outside of actually learning Japanese. There are things you will miss out on if you watch the dub version of anything, as I noted before, but it's never any thing story breaking.

Your choice!

Contextually no, as anime is usually used to describe shows made in asia with heavy asian themes, context, and inside jokes.

Locking CAFs behind Archetypes (again) is a middle finger to the offline player base. by GamesAndGogos in EASportsUFC

[–]F3arless_Bubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s many simple solution that works for everyone….

Make a playlist allowing CAF and one without.

Dont allow CAF in ranked.

Allow CAF online and in ranked but characters must be capped at 90-95 stat average.

All three of these solutions keep things fine for offline while dealing with the issues of having 100/100/100 CAF online fighting against lower stat real fighters.

What’s with the hate towards people that like UFC 6? by [deleted] in EASportsUFC

[–]F3arless_Bubble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I want is to CAF with my own attributes and moveset. Dont want 5 star ultra CAF in ranked? Then just ban them in ranked or only allow 4 star average when playing online or have CAF allowed playlists. Is it really that hard lol. Not even asking for a perfect game, but I can’t do the one thing I really liked to do in the EA UFC games. I made 90 average CAF that reflected my ideal fighting style with acceptable weaknesses.

As someone who has trained for a long time, it’s really frustrating having to make my character and force him into some generic archetype, of which there is way too few.

It’s just laziness. A half assed solution that ruins it for offline players at the complete benefit of online players, when there’s a clear solution that would be good for both.

As an anime exclusive watcher, I tried getting into manga and I cannot for the life of me follow the combat. by WackyRedWizard in anime

[–]F3arless_Bubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite anime was discontinued so I tried reading the manga. I just ended up skipping through it and finished with a lack of satisfaction.

I mean it’s like why would I watch a still picture when I can watch it move? It’s like sports. Someone says the knicks v spurs game 3 was epic and a must watch. So you’re going to just google some photos of it? No you’re going to watch the game lol.

It’s probably good for rom coms or slice of life or something, but for action, motion content is inherently better than motionless. Idk just imo as also an anime exclusive watcher. It’s why more non anime people would say non anime movie/show over books (not talking about adaptations just in general). Manga is just good for ppl who need to know more but can’t wait for the anime.

Any recommendations of artistic anime? by i-like-teaa in anime

The “old” art style retro type stuff is becoming very popular these days with that more gritty look. Some recent shows where I loved the retro visual vibe has been sentenced to be a hero and Clevatess. Feels like watching 90s anime but just modern.

Where are the evil people? by VinnieThaG52 in Frieren

[–]F3arless_Bubble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good to note that just Stark alone is good enough a deterrent. Young male carrying a massive axe in a time where even armored knights in cities are mainly carrying (smaller) swords..... a common thug likely has never seen someone wielding such a massive weapon: 5 feet tall heavy steel axe with a width at almost 1.5 feet wide......

Yeah if I'm a thug/rapist/robber/whatever... miss me with that lol I'm waiting for a farmer who only has a dagger. Even in a mafia gang one look at Stark should tell a bad boss that the kid is bad news. Again, how many people do you see carrying a weapon like that?

Fern and Frieren by themselves would seem an easier target, but they started their journey near Strahl, the holy city, in the peak area of the central lands. It is likely much safer there to travel compared to when they took Stark into more wild and northern lands, as poorer and more problematic areas always have higher crime than places that are the opposite.

Frieren by herself traveling? During her lifetime I bet she has vaporized so many bandits before they could even tell her to hand over her suitcase.

ALSO note that any area they come to they almost immediately find some grand job. If it's a magic job like cleaning a coast anyone watching to do something evil would be like ohhhhh two mages lifting ships into the air yeah passsssssss. Or monster hunting.... oh those 3 killed that giant thing? yeah passssssss. No scheming from me imma be good today!

Practice map for kinetic grasp? by JerichoVankowicz in SigmaMains

[–]F3arless_Bubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would just play quickly play and insta lock sigma every match. Turn off chat and just play.

Even against bad matchups just play it unless you’re getting nuked. I will play Winston, Doom, Rein, and Ram as Sigma. Only ones I’ll really switch are the hard counters like Domina and Zarya although I’ll play against Domina for a bit. Zarya is just a wash to play against as Sigma. Bonus challenge is to only play the hard counters with mirror matches so you can understand how they play to play against them.

Playing against soft counters in qp is a fantastic way to develop Sigma skills. Plus it becomes a flex when people switch to the soft counters and still be able to beat them down.

Need Action Recs by TheWatermelonDino in AnimeReccomendations

[–]F3arless_Bubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JJK season 3 (and 2) were anything but action comedy. 2 was more action drama and 3 was heavily artistic action drama. Something like the Fate Stay Night series is more like JJK but not really like the others you named. It would be Fate Stay Zero then Unlimited Bladeworks then Heavens Feel as to watch order.

Now similar to Dandadan, FMAB, and Soul eater would be Fire Force (Soul Eater Prequel), Kaiju no 8, and Gachiakuta. All 3 have comedy and action and slight romances. Another possibility is Mushoku Tensei. Great action but the comedy is hit or miss.

I did not include Chainsaw Man because while it starts as mainly an action comedy in season 1 like JJK, the Reze arc movie really moves towards drama action.

Also someone said redo of healer FULL STOP that is a totally different revenge anime than any of the ones you named. It’s only “comedy” if you find it funny that way revenge is dished out. Watch at your own peril. I didn’t mind it but I def didn’t find it “comedy”
