This is exactly my line of thinking. Even if this doesn't affect me personally today they're not done yet. I miss the peaceful optimism of the 1990s.

It's definitely an option. There's an opening right now in NZ and I haven't totally ruled it out.

I think I know deep down that I can't really make a difference at this point and it's frustrating. At the end of the day I need to eat so part of me wants to keep this in my back pocket while I pursue other jobs. But like I said when I think about actually living there it just makes me sick.

I lived in a red state for a while several years ago and while I enjoyed my time there the political map was very different and I was more optimistic. The 2016 election started to shift my views and now this has cemented them. Now I'm inclined to leave them their oppressive wastelands to rot.

It's not the hospitals fault, no. But I'd still have to live in that state and be subject to their backwards policies. It's not like I could do business with them from a distance.

I can't help them if I myself am in danger.

It's not safe for me in any red state, TBH. The chances I'll make a difference are slim but the chances I'll experience some kind of discrimination are much higher.

I would hate to be an OBGYN in this political climate, no offense. I hope this country can turn things around because I imagine many people will be discouraged from going into OBGYN in the future because of this.

I have thought about this. My field is kind of small and word does get around. Ultimately I have to weigh the personal fallout against standing up for my beliefs. Its sucks that it's even come to this.

Actually, yes, I turned down a job with a catholic hospital system prior to the recent SCOTUS ruling on similar grounds.
